Why Coose Kona Coast Divers for Your One Stop Scuba Diving and Information Center?
Here are 10 good reasons WHY:
1) Our boat, Diver Two is a custom dive boat designed for your safety and comfort.
2) Since 1967 our captains have been certified/licensed by the U.S.C.G. Our instructors are certified/licensed by PADI, NAUI, SSI, and TDI. The crew is there to assist you with your equipment, orientation of the dive and marine life of the site, and, if you choose, to be your under water guide.
3) We are conveniently located on the water at Honokohau Marina only minutes from downtown Kailua and the hotels in South Kohala.
4) Our air refill system is the most advanced system in the state of Hawaii, supplying you with the cleanest breathing air or Nitrox from oil free compressors.
5) All of our dive trips are escorted; however, experienced divers are free to dive safely with a buddy and a planned profile.
6) We wil furnish or rent only the best equipment (Aqua Lung).
7) We can offer more diving for your dollars. We offer multi-dive discounts and shore diving maps, and information on things to do and see on the Big Island of Hawaii.
8) For technical repairs or adjustments to your equipment, our technicians will quickly correct the problem and/or update your scuba skills.
9) For 30 years, film and publication companies have used our services and many articles have been written about our company and staff: National Geographic, Dec. 1995 (Manta Rays); book of Hawaii (1970) by William Graves; National Wildlife Federation`s IMAX on ``Whales`` by Al Giddings; and MGM, Universal, PBS, and BBC as well as film companies from Japan, the Netherlands, and England; and in 1997 summer ``Ocean Realm`` (Manta Rays), in 1998 ``Life`` magazine (Manta Rays), ``Skin Diver,`` ``Scuba Diver,`` ``Discover Diving,`` and many othere publications.
10) Kona Coast Divers makes a pledge to our customers that we will do are best to make sure you are pleased with your KCD experience.
Kona Coast Divers` air refill station is the largest, cleanest, OIL-FREE air in the Hawaiian Islands. The system is operated with two oil-less KB`s by RIXS compressors with thirty 3500 p.s.i. storage cylinders holding more than 5800 cubic feet of fast, fresh, clean air.
The Kona Coast Divers` scuba and snorkeling RENTAL DEPARTMENT has the best maintained and up dated equipment on the island. KCD`s scuba cylinders range in size from 50 cubic ft. to 80 cubic ft. We also rent a full line of masks (including optical), fins and snorkels, shorty wet suits, and boogie boards and u/w cameras.
Kona Coast Divers has the most updated and high tech scuba repair facility in Hawaii. We would be more than happy to pre-check your equipment before making that plunge into the deep blue.

Location description:
KONA COAST DIVERS is located on the water at Honokohau Marina, just north of Kailua Town and south of the Kona Airport. Kona is a district located on west side of the Big Island of Hawaii, which is the easternmost island of the Hawaiian Island Chain. Hawaii (The Big Island) is also the most southern island of the (Hawaiian Island Chain) and the most southern point of all of the United States. A real adventure...4,038 square miles, with two active volcanoes and still growing every day! The Big Island is only 800,000 years old, being the youngest and largest island in the Hawaiian chain. With a population of approximately 120,000 people, we have a small density factor of 30 persons per square mile. Hawaii is a year-round paradise. Throughout the island are places devoted to pleasure: elegant hotels, championship golf courses, colorful beaches (white, green, and black sands), big game fishing, winter snow skiing on Mauna Kea, and the most fabulous scuba diving in the islands. The KONA COAST, the West Coast of the BIG ISLAND of HAWAII is as good as it gets!
Come, enjoy it with US!
Once reserved for a select few, Kona Coast Divers is pleased to invite you aboard for a night dive you`ll never forget. Manta Rays with 8-10 foot wing spans begin to circle the group and you realize that this is one of the most fantastic things you have ever seen! Then all of a sudden they begin to swoop in towards your group. As they gently glide past, you are within inches of a giant manta! You have become friends with one of the most gentle creatures in the sea. We call this dive MANTA RAY MADNESS.
The mantas come in to feed on the plankton, which concentrates in your underwater light beam. The manta rays will swim under, above and alongside of the divers. KCD has added to this phenomenon by providing over 400 watts of underwater lights placed on the bottom to attract plankton for the Manta Rays to feed on. We can boast a 80% chance of seeing manta rays.
Manta Ray Madness: The site is about 30 minutes from the harbor and at a depth between 30 and 50 feet. Skill Level encompasses beginners through experts. The terrain is primarily black sand with occasional coral heads. Typical marine life found in this area are garden eels, squirrel fish, goat fish, invertebrates, sleeping butterfly fish, moray eels and most of all MANTA RAYS. While cannot guarantee these wild creatures will show up every night, but our success rate is about 80%..
Some of our customers have described their manta dive experience as something right out of the movie, ``Close Encounters of the Third Kind.`` But this close encounter takes place in inner space and the flying saucers are alive. The type of photography we recommend on these manta dives are wide angle and video. This dive has been rated as one of the top 10 in the world. See the write-up in the ``National Geographic`` December 1995.
