Company description The Newport Diving Center is a full service PADI 5 Star Insctuctor Development Dive Center offering PADI , and TDI instruction in water activities ranging from: Snorkeling/Free-Diving, PADI Open Water Scuba Courses, TDI Advanced Nitrox, Extended Range diving, and even Rebreather courses.
We stock a full-range of dive equipment from the most popular manufacturers. We have over 20 sets of gear readily available for rental.
Let our knowledgeable staff provide you with all the necessary information on dive equipment and our scuba courses. Our staff really knows their dive equipment and we have many packages readily available at special prices.

Going on vacation and want to learn to dive but want to do it there? WHY? We can refer you. Ask us how and why here 1st, you will also save $50.00 on the class by starting here and finishing there (NOTE: no other discounts can be given for the referral classes).
The Open Water class is the first class you have to take to become a Certified Scuba Diver, You can move up in the Scuba Ranks from there if you wish.
2 words of warning for you if you are interested and shopping around for a Scuba Class:
1. Make sure the class your taking is a Certification class, Just ask if you will be a certified Scuba diver when the class is done. All of our classes ARE certification class and you will receive a PADI certification when you have completed the class in full.
2. Many places do no tell you everything you need until you need it, and it could unexpectedly cost you a lot more money then you expected to finish the class. We hide nothing we will tell you what the student needs to supply and what we supply for the class.
Everything listed below is the minimum you need, this is also known as Basic Snorkeling Gear:
Scuba Mask
Scuba Dive Fins
Scuba Snorkel
Scuba Booties
Weight Belt + Weights (10% of body weight + 15 pounds)
Gloves
Hood - If Needed
Dive Knife - Not mandatory but highly recommended.
Underwater (Dive) Watch - Not mandatory but highly recommended.
Here at Newport Diving Center you can purchase any or all of these items or more with a student discount (on any Scuba equipment that is not already marked down). To receive a student discount you must be a paid student for any of our Scuba classes.
If you are using older or borrowed Scuba gear please bring it to The Newport Diving Center for inspection before the classes begins not on the day of the class.

How far will you take this diving thing? It`s up to you. With PADI Specialty Diver Programs you can chart your course for a colorful collection of awesome dives. Sure, your PADI certification opens up the oceans and lakes to you, but the PADI Specialty Dives take the underwater adventure to depths that will stir your soul. Achieving PADI Specialty ratings can take anywhere from as little as one day to a full weekend, but this is all hands-on, so you`ll be diving right from the start. Speciality Classes include:

Location description: The dive center is located in historic Newport, Rhode Island only minutes away from many popular dive sites and our own charter boat.
The Newport Diving Center is located in historic, downtown Newport, R.I. and offers some of the best year round diving charters in Rhode Island. From June through September we have 2 tank charters to all of the local popular dive sites such as: the U-853, Teti, Arches at Gooseberry Island, USS Bass, L-8, Explorer, Bellville, Cape Fear, and many, many more. Come dive with The Newport Diving Center on your next vacation to Rhode Island. You don`t even have to bring your own gear we have a full selection of rental gear available.
If you join us on a charter, all equipment rental prices are 50% off for the charter and that day only.
All charters are by reservation only and full payment will be required to hold your reservation. Charters must be secured with a valid credit card or other method of advanced payment. Interested? Call us at 401-847-9293 for more information. Please note some Dive Site require certain certification levels, there is no exceptions on this policy, it will be listed on the charter location page if there is a certain certification lever required for that dive.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made and confirmed at least 72 hours (3 days) in advance before the scheduled time of departure. Cancellations made less than 72 hours (3 days) before departure will NOT be refunded NOR credited. Weather cancellations by the captain will be rescheduled at no additional charge or 100% full refund if desired. Charters are for location or locations only, only 2 tanks are include in the price of the charter, Nitrox tanks will be $5.00 more and no other equipment is included. Rentals are available for an extra charge, at 50% off the regular rental price for the charter and the charter day only.

Need Gear for your Dive Charter: The Newport Diving Center offers all our charter participants with a 50% discount off rental rates. Pre-ordering your rental gear allows us to have your size gear reserved and ready for you when you come to The Dive Center.
The Newport Diving Center provides Scuba Diving Vacation. If you do not Scuba Dive this is fine your price will be even less. Package prices are sample five night stays based on double occupancy and include accommodations and four days of diving (taxes not included), unless otherwise noted.
Airport transfers and car rentals may be arranged the The Newport Diving Center for most destinations. Some hotels include transfers in package rates.
