Company description North Atlantic Scuba is one of the oldest and largest dive stores in Massachusetts and New England. Our experienced and friendly staff can help you with all your scuba and snorkeling needs. Our prices are very competitive, and our service is the best you`ll find. Come on down!
Here at North Atlantic Scuba, our instructors and staff can take you on the learning experience of a lifetime. You can go from being a land dweller, to a creature that can not just exist underwater, but can enjoy and absorb the 70 percent of the planet that most people just talk about.
Our entry level scuba class (Open water scuba certification), takes you from someone who has little or no snorkeling or scuba experience, to a fully qualified, certified scuba diver. Since 1973, thousands of people have taken the plunge at NAS. Our course is sanctioned by NAUI (the National Association of Underwater Instructors), or PADI (the Professional Association of Diving Instructors). NAUI and PADI are two of the worlds oldest and largest certi
fication agencies. With an Open Water Scuba Certification from NAUI or PADI, you can obtain scuba services from Aruba to Zaire.
Each class has a limited enrollment, to ensure each student has an excellent learning experience. Courses usually meet on a Monday and Wednesday night, Sunday afternoon and evening only, or Saturday morning only schedule. Depending on the individual course, you would usually have three to five classroom sessions, and three to four pool sessions. The classroom is typically at NAS, and the pool is at an indoor heated pool. Please call or stop by to find out exactly what we have scheduled in your area.
Upon completion of the pool and classroom sessions, four open water (ocean) dives will be made. These dives will primarily take place off area beaches. The open water portion of the course can normally be completed over the course of one weekend, depending on weather and water conditions.
Tuition for the course is $225.00. Tuition covers a student notebook, certification fees, and certification card, instruction for classroom, pool, and open water, and all required equipment for pool sessions. The only costs not covered by tuition are a textbook (about $ 40), logbook, and equipment for the open water dives. NAS has many equipment purchase options, or one may rent any or all the equipment at a special student rate. Please ask us for current price information.
To register for a course a $100.00 deposit is required. the $125.00 balance is due on the second classroom session. Deposits can be brought or mailed to NAS, or can be charged by phone (we accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and Amex).

Location description: About Us
In 1973, horse collar safety vests, SharkSkin wetsuits, black rubber masks and fins, were standard equipment. Low pressure inflators for B.C.`s dive computers, and silicone masks weren`t invented yet. The Aluminum 80 cubic foot tank had been out for less than one year. This was when North Atlantic Scuba got it`s start. At that time, NAS was seasonally operated, and shut down from October to April.
Within two years, business was conducted year-round, although in the off season it was on a limited basis. The current ownership was established over twenty years ago in 1979, and within three years, NAS was open seven days a week all year long. NAS has kept this tradition, and is open 361 days a year (362 on a leap year!).
Since it`s beginnings, North Atlantic Scuba (through NAUI and PADI) has certified thousands of scuba divers. Within some families, three generations have discovered the thrill of diving at NAS! Since 1973 North Atlantic Scuba has put well over one million pounds of air (the actual weight of the air itself) into scuba tanks.
Today, North Atlantic Scuba has one of the largest selections of scuba and snorkeling equipment in New England (all of it competitively priced!). The total inventory of NAS is two to three times more than most dive stores; so most items are in stock, making special orders rare.
The service department can handle all repairs, alterations, and normal service on your equipment with a quick turnaround. Service done at NAS is always `done right` the first time. The air system employs three high-pressure compressors, a high-pressure booster, over 8000 cubic feet of storage air, and nine filling attachments, so there`s never a wait to fill a tank. The rental program has top-notch gear that is properly maintained, so renting equipment is a pleasure.
If you like Caribbean diving, NAS sponsors trips, and has all the gear you`ll need for a warm water scuba vacation. Over the years, islands like Cayman (Grand, Little, Brac), Bonaire, Cozumel, Turks, Caicos, Roatan, and many others have been visited.
