Here is a description of some courses:
Introduction to Scuba
If you`d like to try scuba we do offer splash parties in our heated pool. We will give you an overview of a modern diving system and how it works, as well as an exciting audio/visual presentation about some of the diving adventures that are offered through Planet Ocean. All the gear is provided and the small fee of $10 can be applied towards a scuba certification class. Minimum of 4 people.
NITROX CERTIFICATION CLASS
Ever feel really tired at the end of your dive day? Fall asleep in your gumbo? Nitrox helps with all that and it can increase your bottom time and/or safety.
What are the benefits?
Increased safety, more bottom time, shorter surface intervals, less tired...
Is it hard to learn?
No...two class sessions of 2 1/2 hours, then go diving
Do I need more equipment or special stuff?
No...you can use standard scuba gear
Is it for deep diving?
No...100 feet, is the recommended depth limit for the most common mix of nitrox
What does it cost?
Class fee of $150 includes instruction, text, and nitrox C-card
Refresher Class
If you haven`t been diving in a while we offer a one-on-one refresher class in our heated pool. These classes are done by appointment and they take about two hours. The cost is $60.
CSU PE Scuba Course
Instructor: Jerry Holland
COURSE OBJECTIVES
(1) To acquaint the student with the basic physics and gas laws that affect a diver using open circuit compressed air scuba and related gear to depths not exceeding 60 feet
(2) To provide sufficient information on the human body’s response to water pressure changes during both descent and ascent phases of a dive so as to allow safe and comfortable dives on scuba in the open water
(3) To provide sufficient information on dive planning and open water conditions so that the student will be able to select appropriate sites and to prepare for dives within their range of ability
(4) To familiarize the students with the components of a total diving system, the basic function of each component, and to emphasize the need for a complete system and its regular maintenance
If you choose, you can become a certified diver and participate in the variety of dive trips that are offered through Planet Ocean. This is totally at your option, and
CSU is not involved in the scuba certification process. Entry level open water scuba certification may be received through Planet Ocean Scuba Center as a member of Scuba Schools International (SSI).
