We have trained thousands of successful divers and the staff at SCUBA EMPORIUM is eager to assist you with all your diving needs. Our staff consists of several full-time diving enthusiasts who are themselves active divers and dedicated to training you utilizing the most modern materials and methods. SCUBA EMPORIUM has an in-ground heated pool for your comfort and convenience. We also have two spacious classrooms where we use the latest in training technology to transform you in to the aquatic explorer you want to be. We have over 20 professional diving educators on staff to assist you at any hour of the day or night. With this fine staff of Instructors, Master Scuba Diver Trainers, Master Instructors and Course Directors we can service all of your training needs at times that are most convenient for you. With our flexible training program options you can accomplish your diving goals without sacrificing valuable work or school time.

Ask about our American Council on Education (ACE) college credit recommendation program. You may be able to earn up to twelve college credits while learning to have fun and enjoying yourself.
Now is the time to dive into the PADI Open Water Diver course, the most popular dive program in the world! This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure with PADI, the dive company that sets the standards in the global diving community.
As a certified PADI Open Water Diver, the most widely recognized and respected rating in the world, you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional. If you already tried a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience or are PADI Scuba Diver certified, check with your instructor to see how credit from these courses may apply to the open water program.
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification. If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a PADI Junior Open Water Diver program available.
A PADI Jr Open Water Diver between the ages of 10 and 12 years may only dive with a PADI Professional, a certified parent or certified guardian to a maximum depth of 12 metres/40 feet.
Throughout the course, you’ll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water (ocean or lake) dives.
PADI programs are performance based. You proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you.
Part One Option A: Weekday Class & Pool Session
•$270, includes PADI Open Water Crew-Pak and Video or DVD. You must have your own mask, fins, and snorkel. Purchase the Deluxe Crew-Pak for an additional $10.
Part One Option B: Weekend Class & Pool Session
•$300, includes PADI Open Water Crew-Pak and Video or DVD. You must have your own mask, fins, and snorkel. Purchase the Deluxe Crew-Pak for an additional $10.
Part Two: Four Open Water Training Dives
•$160* for weekend training dives ($40 per dive)
•$200* for weekday training dives ($50 per dive)

We have local weekend escapes for fun, as well as training, to places like Lake Michigan with its fascinating wreck dives. Mermet Springs is an 8.5 acre spring fed stone quarry, located in Southern Illinois. The quarry has 100 foot walls and wooded hills encompassing nearly half of its perimeter. The sheer walls are not only on the top but can be followed to depths of 120 ft. The quarry is devoted to diving and dive training. They have an array of items of interest for all divers. Whether it is the training platforms, easy entry docks, 15 - 120 ft. dives, or the many sunken treasures such as the Boeing 727 airplane used in the movie ``U.S. Marshals``, you are sure to find something of interest. This is the perfect place to do your Advanced Open Water, Deep Specialty, and many other training courses.
