Company description Scuba One founder Randy Kraft began diving in the late 1970`s while attending Moorhead State University. Upon Graduation, Randy moved to Minneapolis MN and was an active member of the Minnesota Frogmen, Minnesota`s oldest dive club. In this capacity he performed search & rescue dives for drown victims, raised a hydroplane racing boat from the bottom of Lake Calhoun, and became a PADI Divemaster.
In 1982, Randy completed the 10-week instructor program at PADI College in California. This was the longest and most extensive instructor-training program ever offered by PADI, the world`s largest certifying agency. He then moved back to Bismarck and began offering scuba classes and selling dive gear in North Dakota.
1984 was the beginning of his Caribbean career as the water sports director for a 300 room Jamaican all-inclusive resort. This resort is now part of the Sandals resort chain, the largest scuba-inclusive resort chain in the world. From this position he was promoted to director of scuba diving for a Jamaican company with an exclusive watersports concession to service a total of 1000 hotel rooms (5 major hotels) and 9 cruise ships that visited weekly.
In the late 1980`s, upon returning to the US, Randy began expanding Scuba One with more commercial diving work and selling dive vacations throughout the world. In 1990, because of their history of working together in Jamaica, Gary Williams, now based in the Bahamas and currently Executive Vice President for SuperClubs Resorts, asked Randy to take a look at select SuperClubs diving programs for him. This auditing program has subsequently expanded to include a number of Caribbean resorts. Due to Jamaica`s strict immigration laws, few other Americans, if any, have a background of working full time at Jamaican all-inclusive resorts, and worldwide diving experience. Scuba One has expanded to become a PADI 5 Star Dive Center, and owner Randy Kraft is a Master Instructor who has worked full time in this field since 1982.
Scuba One escorted dive trips have been to areas as diverse as the wrecks of Lake Superior, Truk Micronesia, and Cuba. Most major Caribbean dive destinations are visited on a regular basis. If you should have any questions regarding Caribbean, or North Dakota diving, feel free to contact us.

Beginner Courses
Now is the time to dive into the PADI Open Water Diver course, the most popular dive program in the world!
The Scuba One beginning open water certification scuba diving course consists of three sections: Classroom, Pool, & Open Water. The classroom and pool sessions met on the average of 5 times, 3 hours per session. With 1 1/2 hrs for classroom & 1 1/2 hrs. for the pool. Some Classes take more and some less time depending on student performance.
Advanced Courses
After your five dives, you`ll be more experienced, feel more comfortable in the water and simply enjoy diving more because you better understand the underwater environment.
A Rescue Diver Course will be offered to prepare you for the Divemaster course which runs this summer. The Rescue Diver Course will build the confidence and knowledge necessary to approach the ``what ifs`` in diving.

Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers.
Divemaster
PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities by training you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.

PORTOFINO is located on Ambergris Caye, the largest Island (Caye) along the Belize Barrier Reef (second largest in the world). Needless to remark that this is the most spectacular dive paradise in the world, including the Blue Hole, made famous by Jacques Cousteau, during his 1970 expedition with the Calypso, but there is more
PORTOFINO is a luxurious resort, build right on the beach. They are located 6 miles (10 kilometers) north of San Pedro, at the most beautiful part of the island. Although you come to a very peaceful and quiet resort, town, shops and the night life is just 15 minutes away by boat. Many of the best restaurants (including Portofino`s Le BISTRO) are located north of San Pedro.
The Belize reef is only ½ mile (800 meters) from the PORTOFINO beach, and you can see it from all the cabana`s, suites and especially the restaurant. All diving starts from the PORTOFINO dock, and you can discuss the dive the evening before with your instructor in the bar or the Restaurant.

Explore Belize on daytrips starting from the Portofino dock; visit the many spectacular Mayan ruins, in the middle of pristine rivers, waterfalls and rainforest jungle, housing a wide range of plants, animals, and birds. Over 40% of Belize consists of protected wildlife parks and reserves. Or go to one of the the many Caves in Belize, with Maya remains, spectacular geologic cave formations, or just relax and go Cave Tubing.

All of Blackbird Caye Resort`s private individual cabanas face the Caribbean Sea. The cabanas have private porches with chairs, hammock, an interior seating area, double or queen beds, a private bathroom with shower, hot water and offers daily maid service.At the front of the main dock is our huge palapa syle restaurant and lounge area.
Blackbird Caye Resort offers true world class diving. The diving sites are considered some of the best in the Western Caribbean.
