Location description:
Millbrook is the closest dive site to Splash. There are a number of training platforms attached to floats, so they are always at a constant depth of 20 feet. For those who want to go deep and don`t mind the cold, there is an airplane at 65 feet and a small Winnebago at 80 feet. There is also a variety of other wrecks in the shallow areas. Maximum depth is 90 feet.
Most of our training dives during the season take place here, from open water to rebreather courses.
Typical Conditions
During the summer months the first 20 or 30 feet warm up to about 65 °F, but the bottom is always in the mid-forties year-round.
Visibility is pretty good for a mid-Atlantic quarry (usually at least 20–30 feet) because it is infested with zebra mussels. However, the state of Virginia is planning to raise salinity levels in the quarry to kill them off.
Other Considerations
Admission at the gate is $20, but you can come to Splash and buy an entrance ticket for $10! Remember to bring your C-card, they check for them at the entrance.
There are no amenities on-site except for a couple of porta-johns. There is no dive shop close by, either. The advantage of the site`s remoteness is the gas prices—many of us at Splash get our tanks filled at the Sheetz on Rts. 15 and 55.
Medical & administrative forms are required before participation in scuba diving activities or classes. The forms below relate to courses available through Splash Dive Center, Inc. You can download and complete the forms indicated by your course instructor, and return them to him or her at your next class session. Open Water (Beginning) Scuba classes require 3 forms including Medical, Safe Diving Practices, and Class release form. Diving students under the age of 18 require all forms to be signed by a parent or legal guardian. If you answer ``Yes`` on medical evaluation form a Physician`s signature is also required on Medical form prior to in water activities.
Open enrollment schedule below—private classes available, please inquire.
