Welcome to the Undersea Dive Society
Don`t forget to sign up for our Boat Dives and Seal Dives!
The Undersea Divers Society is a great way to acquire new diving skills, meet new dive buddies, and explore the waters of New England and beyond…
What is the Dive Society?
The dive society is a group of Undersea Divers customers who are looking to expand their diving abilities and enjoyment and get to know other divers.
The society holds two to three dives a week, that any member of the society is welcome to attend at no charge. In addition there will be several boat trips and trips to dive sites beyond the North Shore.
Who Leads the Dives?
Society dives are always led by one of our skilled Divemasters or Instructor. The Divemaster usually leads an underwater tour of the dive site. The Divemaster can also provide pointers in Lobstering, and Underwater Photography.
Where are the Dives?
Weekly Society dives are held all over the North Shore. From Marblehead and Nahant to Rockport and Gloucester. Dive sites range from relaxing, like Old Garden Beach and Castle Rock to extremely challenging sites such as Cathedral Rocks and Normans Woe. This offers an excellent chance to try sites you are unfamiliar with.
When are the Dives?
The society’s weekly dives are held on Wednesday evening and Sunday afternoon. A third dive, a night dive, will be held regularly.
SO, HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
A lifetime membership in the Dive Society costs you only $50.00! As a member of the Undersea Divers Society you are welcome to join us on any of the store led dives at no additional cost. Airfills are always free for Dive Society Dives. So if you dive with us eight times you have paid for your membership in free air!
How do I join?...Come down to the store, fill out an application, and pay the membership fee. Then just let us know which dives you will be joining us on. Our dive calendar and dive descriptions are below. As always, please contact the store if you have any questions.
This season the Dive Society does not have a predetermined schedule. Each time the society goes out a site will be chosen from the list below based on conditions and the divers preferences. If you would like to do a particular site or activity please drop us an email dive@underseadivers.com

* Back Beach: 0-35 ft depths. Metered parking, free after 6 pm. Easy sandy beach entry and exit. Bathrooms in season during day. Excellent easy night diving site. Stripers are common with good lobstering on left side rock wall.

*** Bass Rocks: 0-35 ft depths. Limited parking. Moderate rocky entry and exit. Best dived around high tide with calm seas. Good lobstering and floundering, pretty dive.

** Cape Hedge Beach: 0-35 ft depths. Park at pebble beach and shuttle. Round stone/sand entry. Similar to pebble beach, less dove because of parking. Good marine life and u/w photography.

** Castle Rock: 0-30 ft depths. Limited street parking. Short walk to water. Sand and gravel entry. Very pretty dive with mixed sand and rock bottom.

**** Cathedral Rocks: 0-70 ft depths. Limited parking. Rocky, steep climb to water, steep drop-off with boulders. Entry and exit is very difficult with slippery rocks. Basic o/w divers will be limited to 60 ft max. Excellent visibility and u/w photography.

*** Chandler Hovey Park: 0-40 ft depths. Free parking for 30 cars. No weekend and holiday diving from May 1- Nov 1. Short walk with a moderate steep flat rock walk to round stone beach. Best dove around high tide due to slippery rocks. Good lobstering and some flounders.

*** Folly Cove: 0-60 ft depths. Shuttle parking system. Round slippery rocky entry and exit. Best dove at high tide. Left side has vertical wall excellent for u/w photography. Right side is good for lobstering and floundering. Squid show up during night dives in August and September.
* Front Beach: See Back Beach.

**** Halibut Point: 0-60 ft depths. Parking fee and long ½ mile walk to water. Best dove at high tide. Large granite slab ledge entry is slippery at lower tides. Don`t bother with this dive if the sea conditions have surge or in rough seas. Excellent visibility at most times.

** Loblolly Cove: 0-40 ft depths. Shuttle parking system. Sand entry in cove, rocky entry at point. Point has large cracks and crevices for lobsters to hide.
*** Magnolia Shore: 0-35 ft depths. Limited street parking. Large flat slab rock entry that is slippery at anything but high tide. Entry and exit can be difficult for most divers. This location is good for lobsters and other marine life. Watch out for boat traffic.
