Vortex produces 28 million gallons of gin clear water daily at a year-round temperature of 68 degrees with no thermo cline .It is one of Mother Nature`s most extraordinary creations! Vortex waters flow out to create ``Blue Creek,`` an excellent opportunity for photos while snorkeling &/or canoeing. Blue Creek flows over four miles before entering another northern Florida waterway.
Vortex water is also available at high speed, in bulk wholesale prices to Spring Water transporters. As well as, to the surrounding communities for their emergency firefighting needs.
The dive shop/camp store is packed full of great dive shopping. Diving technology & equipment for sale & rent. You will find the selection you have been looking for here. Vintage dive magazines and authentic equipment from years ago is on display, all with prices so the experience is complete.
Northwest Florida Camping on campsites with picnic tables, grills, water, & electricity. Pets are not allowed with exceptions made for interstate travelers. Small ground fires are permitted & adults may enjoy adult beverages. There are sites with sewer facilities & an RV dump station, as well as modern bathrooms & showers. Basketball, volleyball & hiking trails are bonus features for no additional cost.
Two lodge buildings are located in the campground which offer excellent informal lodging for large groups on a co-ed basis. The third & newest, ``Grandview`` lodge offers, great looking, high quality rooms with a fantastic view of Vortex Spring
Want to dive Cypress Spring? VORTEX can make it happen!
Vortex Spring is now offering liveried canoe trips to Cypress Spring.
Just call ahead or see us the day before to arrange a trip. Reservations are required. A staff member will transport the canoe(s) to the launching point. Divers can rendezvous with a staff member or follow them to Cypress from Vortex. The canoe trip into Cypress can take one to two hours, depending on your skill level with a canoe. The return trip to the launch point will take approximately half the time as the trip in. You will be running downstream on the way out. A staff member will then meet you at the launch point to retrieve the canoe(s), this is arranged by either agreeing on a set time or calling from a cell phone upon exiting the dive. Cost is $100.00 per canoe with a max of two divers per canoe.
OPEN WATER CERTIFICATION
We can teach you to SCUBA!
PRIVATE Open Water Certification ``QUICK CLASS`` must be done in three days. We furnish all your equipment for these three days and we waive all the diving entrance fees, as well as provide your PDI.
``OPEN WATER CERTIFICATION`` taken in two weekends is $225.00 + tax.
The weekends do not have to be consecutive. One day of classroom work and 3 days of diving.

SCUBA Divers Heaven
For the more experienced divers, the natural cavern is the real deal. 58+ feet deep, it continues through a garage-sized tunnel into cave diving. Meandering gracefully another hundred yards or so to a depth of 115 feet, it has a penetration depth of 310. The tunnel is blocked by a steel grate at this point. The white sand bottom is gently rippled by the outflow from the underground spring. Pockets of air randomly collect at the ceiling, creating a sound like unto gentle piano tones. Guided by a permanent safety hand rail, divers may explore at their leisure along the beautiful limestone confines of this wonder of nature, confident of their way back to the surface. Penetration beyond the locked gate is with FULL CAVE CERTIFICATION only. Once beyond the gate, cave divers find the need for side mounts. Here you can really feel the 28 million gallons per day water flow. 2004 current maximum recorded depth is 157` with a recorded cave length of 1,642 feet. Growth of this cave penetration continues with the flow of water removing the sand slowly 24/7. Exactly where the water source is, remains the mystery since there is no ``spot`` where the sand reveals the incoming water flow.
