Company description Welcome to Water World...``where the fun never sets...`` We`re glad you found us. For those of you who don`t know us, Water World is the Triangle`s headquarters for all your boating, marina, and scuba diving needs. We also book scuba trips. We are the largest dive shop in North Carolina with a long history of customer satisfaction. Water World opened in 1976 as a small scuba shop in Durham, North Carolina and added boats, boat service, boat parts, and marina sales in 1983. Today, Water World has a 5000 square foot retail space full of the latest scuba gear, boats, and marina accessories
Water World is the largest dive center between Washington and Atlanta, and we have trained divers and enjoyed diving for over 20 years. As the area`s premier dive center, we train under the guidelines of PADI, the world`s largest and most recognized certifying agency. We are privileged to carry the world`s most respected product lines, and our years of experience and large staff ensure visits to the world`s best diving. Who knows who you`ll meet in a scuba diving class?
Learning to SCUBA dive is one of the most exciting decisions you will ever make! Visitworlds you have only dreamed of, and meet exciting new friends who share your zest for life. Water World has trained Triangle divers for more than twenty years, and we assist with SCUBA training at the major area universities. Allow us to share our enthusiasm for teaching SCUBA diving with you! Our experienced instructional staff has traveled the world diving, and yet the part of diving they enjoy most is helping new divers discover the underwater world!
Here at Water World all of our instruction is done under the guidelines set forth by PADI, the Professional Association of Dive Instructors. We strive to keep well within the suggested limits and therefore keep class size to a maximum of 10-12 students. In addition to limiting the class size we have extra divemasters and assistant divemasters in our classes to enhance the learning experience. We offer classes year round.
Location description: Some of weekend schedule:
1)Weeknight schedule
Introductory session at Water World, (what to look for when purchasing snorkeling gear, meet your instructor and classmates and hear some more detail about what you`ll be learning in the scuba class),
on a Saturday from 10:00am until 12:00pm
This class meets two nights per week (either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 6:30 pm until 10:00pm. Each class will include classroom and pool time. These classes take three weeks to complete.
There is one additional Saturday session, held in the middle of the course, at Water World. We call this an equipment orientation, where you will learn how to successfully rent scuba equipment, how compressors fill tanks, and what the different style regulators and bcs are all about. These session is from 10:00am until 12:00pm.
2) Weekend schedule
Introductory session at Water World (what to look for when purchasing snorkeling gear, meet your instructor and classmates and hear some more detail about what you`ll be learning in the scuba class),on a Thursday evening, 6:30pm until 9:30pm
This class meets on Saturdays and Sundays. The class meets on Saturdays from 8:30am until 5:30pm and on Sundays from 1:30pm until 5:30pm. This class is completed in two weekends.
After completing the academic and confined water portions of the class, the student will be eligible to do their 4 open water training dives. (These dives are how you actually get your PADI scuba certification.) These dives are conducted over a two-day period with two dives being completed per day. If the training dives are done with Water World locally or on one of our exciting tropical trips, the cost is $89.00 plus $50.00 for scuba gear rental. (The $50.00 is refundable should you decide to purchase your own gear within 30 days of completing your open water dives.)
3) Private Classes
Our private classes are a great way for you to learn at your own pace without any of the pressures associated with a group learning environment. Also, there is the added benefit of meeting at your convenience. After completing our private class you will have all of the necessary skills to participate in Open Water Training Dives. Open Water Training Dives
Open Water Training Dives are done after the class,
and allow you to apply the skills and knowledge that you will have acquired in your class to a real diving environment while under the supervision of an Instructor. In the summer Water World does open water training dives at Rolesville Quarry. It`s rough, but in the winter we have to travel further south to Florida or the Caribbean. It`s a tough life, but someone has to live it.
