Dive with professionals - Always imitated but NEVER duplicated....
Dive onboard the Wreck Master!
Capt. Rick`s - An intact fishing trawler sitting upright in 80 ft of water. The wreck is covered with all kinds of marine life. This is a good wreck for u/w photography.
Gulf Hustler - A fishing trawler that sank during high seas in 1974. The wheel house is open, fun to explore, and great for u/w photography. The upper portion of the wreck is coated with mussels and a number of large Atlantic green eels live in the engine room. The wreck lies in 75 ft of water.
Francis E. Powell - We consider this the best wreck dive in Virginia! This is an American tanker that was hauling gasoline and home heating fuel approximately 20 miles from Rudee Inlet when she was torpedoed by a German U-boat the U-130 on January 27, 1942 losing 4 crew men. The stern sank quickly with the bow staying afloat until the coast guard later sank the bow. The bow lies at approx. 90 ft. John P. Morgan - The best known of Virginia`s wrecks. This liberty ship was built in 1942 in Philadelphia, PA. On June 1, 1943 the John Morgan was cut in half by colliding with the ship Montana. The Morgan was loaded with ammunition, jeeps, tanks, and artillery guns for the European war effort. The stern sank quickly with the bow remaining afloat. The location of the bow is unknown. The stern lies in 100 ft of water with a long rubble field extending in front of it.
Location description:
Brass Spike Wreck - A wooden hulled steam assisted sailing vessel that was first dove by us in 1994. A Brass sextant was found laying in the sand. This vessel has brass spikes ( thus the name) in the hull and contains some of the biggest tautog you will ever see. The treasure of this wreck is waiting to be discovered. Depth is 70 feet.
Eureka - A wooden coastal cargo vessel sunk enroute from NY to New Orleans May 6, 1888 by the collision with the British steamer Benison. This wreck was discovered and identified in 1989 by the recovery of the capstan cover. The vessel is full of cargo, Porcelain dolls, Florida water bottles, snuff bottles, medicine bottles, and brass artifacts. Dive this wreck and you will go home with an artifact. Depth is 115 feet.
Ocean Venture - Liberty ship torpedoed by a German U-boat the U-108 on Feb. 8, 1942. The vessel contains hundreds of lead ingots, dozens of brass portholes, and numerous other war time artifacts. This is a dive for experienced divers only due to the depth of 170 ft.
Tower Reef - An area south east of the Chesapeake Light tower that was created as part of Virginia`s artificial reef program. The reef is a combination of barges, Navy ships, obsolete landing craft, APC`s, M-60 Tanks and miscellaneous vessels small ships and large barges donated by the US navy and local industry. All of the wrecks attract a wide variety of fish. Depth ranges from 50 to 80 ft.. This reef attracts significant marine life with more than an abundance of starfish, in particular. Excellent diving!
Tiger - An American tanker that was sunk by a German U-boat on April 1, 1942. The wreck lies in approx. 60 ft of water with the boilers sticking up from the sand almost 20 feet. The wreck is broken up and extends for over 500 ft.
Santore - An American freighter that was sunk on June 17, 1942 by a German U-boat claiming a number of her crew. The wreck lies in 55 ft of water. The wreck is a good spot for artifact hunting, lobster, spearfishing and underwater photography.
Kingston Celonite - A British ship that was loaned to the USA at the beginning of WW II for escort and mine sweeping duty. The ship sank on June 15, 1942 and it is unclear as to whether she hit a German mine or was struck by a torpedo. The wreck lies in approx. 50 ft of water and has been wire dragged.
Margret Hanks - A clam dredge that sank in rough seas in 70 ft of water southeast of Rudee Inlet. The wreck is intact and upright with a slight list to port. This is a fun wreck to dive!
