Company description Atlantis Divers Skin and SCUBA Diving Club is a not-for-profit organization based is LaGrange, Illinois. Our club was established in 1956, making it one of the oldest active dive clubs in the country. We now have close to 200 members from coast to coast.
We have fun diving.
We have fun, as divers will, by staying WET! There are many dive trips, both local and abroad, offered throughout the year. Whether it`s in Lake Michigan, the Red Sea, Solomon Islands, or Pumpkin Carving with the Paddlefish at France Park, Indiana, you`ll find Atlantis Divers!
We have fun teaching.
We offer several SCUBA courses including Basic SCUBA, Open Water II, SCUBA Lifesaving and Accident Management (SLAM), Silver Star, SCUBA Refresher, Ice Diving, Underwater Sign Language, Skin Diving, and you can TRY SCUBA FREE!
We have fun socializing.
We also have fun on land at our monthly programs or other social events such as Day at the Races, the Awards Banquet (this year marks our 42nd), our club Picnic and Christmas Party.
The purposes of the corporation as stated in its certificate of incorporation are: (1) to promote and encourage interest in skin and scuba diving in a safe and sane manner; (2) to encourage, promote, aid and instruct in the proper use of skin and scuba equipment; (3) to promote sportsmanship, competition and good fellowship among its members and that of other organizations; and
(4) to bring to its members the sound benefits and pleasure derived from organized activity.
Atlantis Divers is one of the oldest continuous scuba divers organizations in the United States. It has been continuously associated with the RichPort YMCA located in LaGrange, Illinois and with other area YMCAs
Atlantis Divers has made tremendous progress in the sport of Skin and SCUBA diving through the combined efforts of its members. We therefore urge you to share in our Club`s direction, to maintain our high standards, and to participate in the fellowship and sport offered by our outings, meetings and adventures.
Membership in the corporation shall be open to any male or female fifteen (15) years of age and over. Male or female applicants under the age of eighteen (18) years are required to have the written consent of either parent or guardian to be considered for membership.
Our offered courses:
*Basic Open Water SCUBA Certification
Comprehensive 10 week program which will prepare you to safely enjoy the underwater world.
*Skin Diving
Five week session for students aged 12 and up which teachs safe use of mask, fins & snorkel.
*I Tried SCUBA, FREE!
Your chance to try SCUBA absolutely F R E E ! Must be age 15 or older.
*Underwater Sign Language
An informal class set up to teach a variety of words and phrases that would help bridge the communication gap between you and your buddy underwater. (You know, minimize those arguments!) Consists of three two-hour sessions.
*CPR, First Aid, Oxygen Provider
Red Cross CPR, Red Cross First Aid, and DAN Oxygen Provider classes and recertifications classes are available on an as-needed basis.
*Advanced Open Water
A course for certified divers who would like to increase their skills in bouyancy control, navagation, boat diving, night diving, and ecology awareness. Course consists of two classroom sessions and six open water dives.
*Silver Star
An advanced SCUBA course comprised of five classroom and pool sessions, ten open water dives with specific exercises in refreshing dive skills, and a take-home written exam.
*SCUBA Lifesaving and Accident Management (SLAM)
Learn rescue techniques, how to identify the signs and symptoms of stress and accident prevention. Class consists of one classroom session, two pool sessions and open water dives and surface exercises.
*Ice Diving
Ever walk on a ceiling? Here is your chance to enjoy this unique experience. Class consists of two classroom and pool sessions and open water check out dives.

There are lots of thing to do in Cozumel:
Besides snorkeling or diving in the spectacular reefs, families can also discover the marine life on board the Atlantis, an unforgettable submarine ride that will awe passengers with a magnificent underwater spectacle.
You can also learn about the world of the Maya by visiting the ruins of San Gervasio and exhibits at the Cozumel Museum, or enjoy adventures such as sailing on a catamaran or swimming with the dolphins at Chankanaab Park (Dolphin encounter program) a natural aquarium.
Families can also rent a car at any of several rental agencies and drive around its perimeter to enjoy enchanting scenery of sandy beaches, rare wildlife and tropical jungle.
Other options for family fun include a day at Playa Mia Grand Beach Park,with its kids area, zoo, and underwater Mayan city; a visit to the towering lighthouse at Punta Sur, which offers a 360 degree view of the island; they can take a glass-bottom boat cruise; go parasailing; or a stroll through the colorful town of San Miguel and its zocalo and seaside promenade.
