Company description
Welcome to the Central Wisconsin Scuba Club! ``The purpose of the Central Wisconsin Scuba club is to bring together people with the common interest of scuba/skin diving; to promote safety in scuba diving, scuba diving activities, education and advancement; as well as to promote diving in the community.``
If you are planning on diving in our area, or if you have any questions regarding diving or dive sites, which we can help you with, please contact us. We look forward to you joining or at least corresponding with our club. We hope that someday we can share the same water with you.
The Central Wisconsin Scuba Club meets once a month to discuss club related activities and issues. During the warmer months, the club sponsors one local dive per week, as well as occassional weekend dives. We also sponsor a summer picnic and events for most major hollidays. Our club is a non-profit group of divers and non-divers alike, who`s goal is to promote scuba and skin diving, diving safety, and community awareness.
Current Club Officials:
• President - Jason Welty - president@divewisconsin.net
• Vice President - Doug Freeman - vp@divewisconsin.net
• Treasurer / Secretary - Barry Thompson - treasurer@divewisconsin.net
• Web Administrator - Dan Blumenstein - blumdan@divewisconsin.net
Club membership is $20 per year and is good for one calendar year (January 1st through December 31st). Club funds will pay for this web site (approximately $140/yr), a summer picnic dive, possibly prizes for contests (such as the halloween underwater pumpkin carving contests, etc.), and help offset the cost of club clothing (silk screening fees).
Dues can be paid at meetings, or they may be sent to the Club Treasurer.
November 13, 2005 - Meeting Summary
Attendees: Betsey W., Jason W., Barry T., Dan B., & Sarah B.
Meeting: The Cedar Post Restaurant was closed when we got there, so we waited until 5:40pm (Meeting was scheduled for 5:30pm), then moved to ElTapatio Restaurant in Plover.
Christmas Party: The club`s last Christmas Party. To be held on Saturday, December 10th (see Calendar for location and times). We will be giving away door prizes and the club will use the remaining money to purchase snacks. Attendees will be required to purchase their own drinks.
Club Future: Due to dwindling attendace and interest the past year, we have decided to terminate the club. We have the website throughout October of 2006 and plan to maintain the website. In the future we will not be meeting as often (possibly every few months). We decided that we will not need club officials for the upcoming year. We will spend the the rest of our club money on food for the Christmas Party and we already have $50 in prizes for the party. If we require any decision making, we can discuss it via e-mail.
Website: The website will be maintained periodically throughout the upcoming year. In lieu of meetings, we are are considering the posibility of giving current members the ability to edit the Calendar page. This would allow everyone to be able to schedule a dive if they wish. The site will be modified to reflect the state of the club. The Meeting Info and Member Pages will be removed and the main page will have a statement about the clubs impending closure.

*Lake Emily
Max Depth:35 Feet.
Size: 96 Acres
Location: Located near Amherst Junction
Access: Divers can access the lake either from the public boat landings, from the park swimming area (long stairway), or from the small road to the beach, which is designated for handicapped access to the beach. Do not bock the handicapped access road. Parking is available at the boat landings and the park. The boat landings are the best places to access the water, as they provide good parking and easy entry.
Boat Traffic: The boat traffic is very heavy during fishing season. This is a popular lake for fisherman. A dive flag is a must. Also, since the lake is heavily fished, give care to stay away from fisherman. Don`t give divers a bad name by crowding them.
Dive Types: Open Water Diving, Ice Diving (Winter)
Visibility: Spring: 2` - 10`, Summer: 3` - 15`, Fall: 3` - 20`, Winter (Ice): 20` - 75`
Overall Dive Rating (1 poor - 5 Excellent): Open Water dive: 2 - 3; Ice Dive: 3 - 4
Things To See:
1) Fish Cribs - There are fish cribs located along the southern shoreline
2) Swim Areas - There is usually something to find near the swim areas. Clothes, money, toys, jewelry, trash, etc.
3) Bottom Structure - The shorelines are steep in places. A weed line around the lake is very pronounced, and the weeds have lots of fish in them.
4) Wildlife - Bluegill, Crappie, Northern Pike, Large Mouth Bass, Walleye and Muskie; as well as Crayfish & Turtles
5) Lost Items - Since this lake is so heavily fished, you will ocasionally find fishing poles, nets, tackle or even tackle boxes, and other items that have fallen from a boat or blown from a dock. Keep your eyes open.
6) Indian Burial Mounds - Although these are not underwater, they are pretty cool and worth checking out. They are located on the East shore. Some are marked and some are not.
**REMEMBER** This is a State of Wisconsin - Registered Archeology Site. Disturbing the site is unlawful and subject to fines or jail time.
