These include night dives, muck dives, ice dives, and wreck dives. The club promotes safe diving through the support of the Divers Alert Network (DAN), by providing an oxygen equipped First Aid kit on club dives and by supplying ice diving equipment on winter dives.
An initiation fee of five dollars ($5.00)shall be submitted with the application for membership. Annual Dues:
1) General membership dues shall be ten dollars ($10.00) per year.
2) Diving membership due shall be twenty dollars ($20.00) per year.
3) Associate membership dues shall be ten dollars ($10.00) per year.
4) Family membership dues shall be thirty dollars ($30.00) per year per family.
5) The membership year shall expire on either November 30 or May 31, whichever provides an initial year of between 12 and 18 months.
The regular general meetings of the club shall be held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Special meetings may be called by 1/3 of the membership or by 1/3 of the Board of Directors. All members must be notified prior to the meeting of its time, date, location and purpose. The Board of Directors shall meet as necessary, but at least once a month.
Everyone is invited to attend our monthly meetings which feature speakers and presentations of general interest to the diving community. Subjects include travel, equipment reviews, safety and medical issues, photography, marine life, archeology, and the history of diving. In addition to our monthly meetings we sponsor special events such as the annual Dive for DAN fund raiser and participate in community projects such as the Take a Stake in the Lakes area cleanup efforts. We also feature the ever popular Underwater Hockey and encourage diving in the Madison area with our famous weekly ``adventure`` (read ``muck``) dives. Members receive a Monthly Newsletter to keep them informed of the club`s current events. Four Lakes club members also receive discount air prices from all the local dive shops.
As a part of Dane County`s annual Take a Stake in the Lakes area cleanup the Four Lakes SCUBA Club likes to get wet. This is an opportunity for club members to experience the best of Dane County diving conditions as the event takes place in the spring and at least one dive is done in each of the four lakes: Mendota, Monona, Waubesa and Kegonsa. Each year the club brings up over 100 anchors along with countless bottles, cans, fishing lures, fishing line, rods, reels, etc., etc.
Underwater Hockey: This is one of Madison`s most fun, exciting, energetic indoor sports. Bring mask, fins, snorkel, swim suit, towel and a glove to protect your hand. What better way to keep those fins wet off season than chasing a hockey puck around the bottom of the deep end of a swimming pool? All are welcome, no certification required. A small fee (about $4.00) is charged for pool rental but the first night is free.
