Company description
Welcome to the Sea Gypsies
The NYC Sea Gypsies, a dive club for about a quarter century now, is made up of individuals of all ages from all walks of life with one thing in common, we all share a love of scuba diving.
Among our 100+ members, you`ll find divers who :
--- have been pretty much . . . everywhere
--- have seen pretty much . . . everything
--- photograph better than pretty much . . . anybody
--- know . . . a whole lot . . . but want to know ... even more
--- and can even pronounce it all properly! Imagine!
Local diving includes day and weekend boat charters to the best wrecks off the Jersey and Long Island coasts and shore, lake and quarry diving. From time to time, trips to destinations such as The Thousand Islands, Rhode Island, North Carolina, the Great Lakes and the Caribbean.
Each meeting features a presentation by a well-known speaker on a scuba-related topic. Past speakers include: Glenn Butler, John Chatterton, Mike Emmerman, and Gary Gentile as well as many other divers, photographers, and collectors from around the world.
Our monthly meetings, attended by usually 40-50 members, begin with a fast-paced business meeting, committee reports, dive reports, introduction of visitors, interspersed with late arrivals & muted dinner orders. Following a short surface interval - - to pay dinner tabs - - will be a presentation, including films, mixed media or slides, on a dive topic (travel, safety, marine life, equipment, underwater adventure, etc.) and plenty of opportunity to socialize!.
