Company description We are a club at Penn State University, and our membership consists of students, University employees, and other community members... all are welcome to join! Everyone shares a common interest in scuba diving, snorkeling, or the undersea world in general. We meet the first and third Thursday of the month to discuss upcoming trips, new diving practices, refresh safety skills and share personal experiences.
We offer the opportunity to participate in an exciting sport within an environment of safety and fun. We support the expansion of scuba by conducting courses such as basic skills, advanced skills, rescue diving, and various other specialty courses. Dive trips are planned to local quarries, lakes, and rivers. We also engage in many other fun and exciting social events throughout the year.

Social Events:
•Fall Welcome Back Dive- come out and meet some of the members and enjoy some diving!
•Lobster Tailgate- enjoy a fresh lobster at Penn State`s Homecoming game
•Weekly gathering at the American Ale House ( 21 and older)
Helping with Equipment or a Class:
•TA Program- learn how to and help with our Basic Scuba course
•Equipment maintenance- learn how to work with equipment and earn free rentals in the process.
Nittany Divers offers various programs throughout the year so it`s members and potential members can get involved the club.
The Nittany Divers are committed to promoting save diving through education. A motto that we share with the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI).
To accomplish this, we offer a wide variety of courses to our membership at reduced prices.
Below is the list of courses that we offer. If you do not see a course that you would like, please ask.
Courses:
*Basic SCUBA Course
Typically a 4 or 8 week course that prepares you for SCUBA certification.
*Discover SCUBA!
A one hour pool session to let you try out SCUBA and see just how much FUN it really is!
*Certification Dives
A weekend trip to one of Pennsylvania`s quarries to do the 5 necessary open water dives to become a certified diver.
*Refresher
Typically a 4 hour combined classroom and pool session to refamiliarize you with what you learned in your basic SCUBA course.
*Specialties.
These are specialty certifications that can be taken if you are certified diver from a recognized certifying agency:
-DAN O2 Provider
-Dry Suit
-Nitrox
-First Aid/CPR
-Rescue Diver
-Training Assistant
*Advanced Diver
A series of 6 dives done at different locations with different objectives including night, navigation, and deep diving.
*Master Diver
The highest level of NAUI recreational certification before entering into a leadership role. This course focuses on all the details about diving in an effort to make you the most knowledgeable diver you can be.
*Assistant Instructor
A NAUI Leadership level certification that authorizes you to assist NAUI Instructors in conducting dive training and to teach all aspects of skin and scuba diving under the supervision of a NAUI Instructor.
*Dive Master
A NAUI Leadership level certification that trains you to organize and conduct enjoyable open water dives for certified divers. Divemasters are employed all over the world to assist certified divers in enjoying their diving experience.

The Finger Lakes in Upstate NY
Other trips will be arranged if demand is available: Puerto Rico, Belize, Caymans.
IN THE FLORIDA KEYS WINTER / NEW YEARS BREAK Trip Description: The trip fee is for six nights of camping in the Florida Keys and three, 2-tank SCUBA dives (that’s six dives in all). Because these are boat dives, they are “weather permitting”. Tanks and air will be provided for all six days. The campground has a beach, pool, hot tub, showers, laundry, “entertainment”, “bar”, “restaurant”, and a general store. There are various shops, stores, bars, and scenic places within easy driving distance of the campgrounds. Non-Divers are invited as well.
Divers must provide C-card as proof of certification and a logbook as proof of diving experience. There is a limit of 26 SCUBA divers on the trip and people will be signed up on a first come (pay), first served basis. Responsibility: The Nittany Divers Scuba Club, it’s members, and the trip organizer act solely in the capacity of an agent for the participants with the expressed condition that it/they shall not become liable for any damage, loss, delay, injury, or accident due to any default on the part of any company or person engaged in providing transportation, lodging, or any other services which are part of the trip. The Nittany Divers Scuba Club and/or the trip organizer expressly reserve the right to withdraw the trip or make any changes that are deemed necessary.
