If you are a diver living in the Piedmont North Carolina Area and are looking for a club of other enthusiasts you`ve come to the
right place!
The Piedmont Diving and Rescue Association is a club formed of individual and family divers predominately from North Carolina, southern Virginia and upper South Carolina. Our purpose is to promote safe scuba diving and to offer our members affordable inland diving.
Almost 1000 divers including their families have found affordable diving with access to the conveniently located PDRA Quarries a fun alternative to expensive ocean diving. Our facilities are open to members 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. These facilities offer opportunities for honing diving skills as well as camping and cooking out. Our quarries offer interesting underwater ``attractions`` as well as dressing and bathroom accommodations (some with electricity).
The PDRA welcomes new members. Dues are a very reasonable $35.00 per year for an individual membership, or $45.00 per year for a family membership. There is a small local club fee in addition to the PDRA dues. Membership in the PDRA is gained though local clubs which are approved affiliates of the PDRA.
Five Good Reasons For Becoming A Member Of The Piedmont Diving And Rescue Association, Inc.
1.Located in Caswell County, Iredell County and Rowan County are some of the nicest inland scuba diving facilities in North Carolina. Three Quarries owned by the Piedmont Diving and Rescue Association, Inc. are available for use by members, their families and guests. Membership is inexpensive and affordable. The benefits offered by the P.D.R.A. cannot be matched by any other dive organization for the same fee.
2.All members are issued a key to the quarry gate. Members have year round access to the dive sites. The P.D.R.A. is not a seasonal operation; fall and winter diving is just as popular as spring and summer.
3.Facilities provided at all quarries include changing areas (trailers or buildings), picnic shelters with tables, sanitation facilities, easy entry areas and parking. Blanch Quarry in Caswell County has a large building (over 3300 square feet) with electricity, where clubs and large groups can meet for social activities.
4. Additional benefits of P.D.R.A. membership consist of social events such as the annual Treasure Hunt and Bar-Be-Que, opportunity to go Charter Boat Diving at the coast through the P.D.R.A. Divemaster and free tank inspection at participating dive shops and through participating instructors.
5.Good fun and fellowship with divers from all over Piedmont North Carolina and Virginia.
All new members pay a one-time $20.00 initiation fee. So, if you were to join as a new member March 1st, and had one family member you would pay $65.00 total for the year membership in the PDRA. The next year your dues would be $35.00 plus $10.00 for the family member.
Current PDRA Clubs
Renewing Club dues are $25.00. Any club not renewing within the three months would be decertified as a PDRA member club and would be required to reapply as a new club and pay a $120.00 recertification fee in addition to any other current fee that may be required.
Membership in the Piedmont Diving and Rescue Association cost less than 10¢ per day. Joining is easy. You can join the P.D.R.A. through any one of our eighteen affiliated scuba clubs. P.D.R.A. dues are pro-rated quarterly for new members. The local club membership secretary will usually handle all of the paper work and explain the dues structure of the P.D.R.A.
