Places to Dive from Shore in the Monterey Bay
1. Del Monte Beach: The first dive site you come to when entering Monterey. It`s at the intersection of Del Monte & Park Ave. Depths range from 10 to 60 feet. Mostly sandy bottom. Access is via the beach. The area is rated as Intermediate.
2. Breakwater (San Carlos Beach): The most popular dive site in Monterey. At Cannery Row & Foam Street. Depths range from 20 to 60 feet. Bottom is variable with sand, eel grass & rock. Access is via beach or boat. The area is rated as Novice.
3. McAbee Beach: A very popular dive site in Monterey. At Cannery Row & Hoffman Ave. Depths range from 25 to 35 feet. Bottom is variable with eel grass, rock & sand. Access is via the beach. The area is rated as Novice.
4. Lovers Point Cove: At Ocean View Blvd. & 17th Street in Pacific Grove. Depths range from 20 to 40 feet. Bottom is rock & sand. Access is via the beach. The area is rated as Intermediate.
5. Otter Cove: At Ocean View Blvd. & Sea Palm Ave. in Pacific Grove. Depths range from 25 to 55 feet. Bottom is eel grass, rock & sand. Access is via the beach. The area is rated as Intermediate.
6. Coral Street Beach: At Ocean View Blvd. & Coral Street in Pacific Grove. Depths range from 15 to 40 feet. Bottom is rock & small pinnacles. Access is via the beach. The area is rated as Novice.
