Company description Welcome to Discover Diving, the home of SCUBA Diving in Newark Ohio. Our friendly, courteous and professional staff would like to invite you to stop by and see what we can do for you. We are a full service shop offering you training, equipment sales, maintenance, and dive travel.
We opened our doors in March of 2000. Our staff will take the time to talk diving with you anytime you want. If we can`t answer a question off the top of our heads, we`ll get an answer for you. We sell a reputable, dependable range of products at a fair price and our service is second to none. Customer satisfaction is number one on our list of priorities.
We offer a wide variety of courses and teach for 3 agencies; PADI of course, the YMCA, and PDIC. Because we teach for more than one agency, we believe we can offer a wider range of courses, designed to fit your needs and your learning style. We work in conjunction with other dive shops around the world and we can conduct your ``class-room`` training here and arrange your checkout dives on your vacation for you. Of course we conduct certification dives both locally and in Florida as well.
Our staff:
*Bruce Amsbaugh.
Bruce started working with us during the 2002 dive season. He has been diving for ? years and dives both locally and in exotic locations.
*Sam Warner.
Sam is the newest addition to the team. He started diving in 2002 and just became a newly certified Dive Master (Feb. 2003)! Be sure to congratulate Sam when you see him... it`s hard work getting there.
*Pat Rowland.
Pat began diving in 2000 and has been a backbone member of our shop family. He was there for the actual construction of the store and has worked his way up the ladder to become a PADI Certified Assistant Instructor.
*Chris Roland.
Chris started working with us in 2001. Chris is a PADI Open Water Instructor. He is certified to repair regulators but his strong suit is in teaching.
*Richard ``Bump`` Staggers.
Bump started diving in 2000. Since then, he has become an avid diver. He started working with the shop almost immediately and has been devoting more and more time ever since. Today Bump is a PADI Open Water Instructor.
*Russell Drake.
Russell is our only non-diving member of the team. Russ has been with us from the start. In fact, his relationship with Jan precedes even her diving. Russ is Jan`s right hand administratively.
*Kat Judd.
Kat, the oldest of our children, began diving in 2000. She began working with us shortly after we built the store that same year. She fills in for us and keeps the store running when our diving takes us on the road.
*Jan Slee.
Senior partner and co-owner of the store, Jan is the one person who knows how, when, and where things need to be done. When we opened our doors she became the first full time employee. She began diving in 1997 and started diving professionally in 1999. Acting on her love of diving, she took responsibility for the construction and opening of the store in early winter of 2000, and has worked every day since. Her duties are too many to list.
*Don Slee.
Don is Jan`s partner in crime. Don has been diving since 1997 and also began diving professionally in 1999. His computer and mechanical skills make him a natural to take the lead on mechanical and technical operations of the shop. He is equally at home fixing the compressor, a regulator, or the stores computer. Don is the web-master for this site.
Location description: Travel:
We schedule dive trips both in and out of the country. We guide trips to places such as Belize, Cozumel, the Cayman Islands. We can take you wreck diving in Bermuda, kelp diving in California or just a fast weekend to Florida. Stop by and talk to us. We can sometimes use our contacts to make your vacation a little cheaper, or better.
Sales and Service:
We carry regulators and BCDs from TUSA, Genesis, Sherwood, and IDI. And of course we are a factory authorized and trained service shop for the products we sell. We are PSI certified cylinder inspection specialists. We sell a full line of SCUBA equipment including video and photography gear, dive computers and all of the other support items you could want. If we don`t stock it, we`ll order it for you.
