Divers Supply

Dive Shops (English)

Service:
  • Online Diving Shop
Company description With a great vision in mind, Divers Supply was started in 1977 as a small operation in Macon, GA. Now, Macon is not what anyone would consider to be a great diving spot by far! With only a few lakes and quarries in the area, the ``shop`` was opened on a major exit off of I-475 (a bypass to I-75) and with our tremendous training programs, travel, and great equipment deals we were able to grow our business to a 35,000 square foot store with a full training facility and indoor heated pool.
Now, close to 25 years later, Divers Supply has grown to enormous proportions! But still a hometown dive shop where you can stop and show your latest dive pictures, joke about the boat mishaps, or talk about the ``lobster that got away``! Still family owned and run, so you can be assured of that personal touch.
Divers Supply has 7 full retail stores and a world wide mail-order/ internet division. All stores are PADI 5 Star Dive Centers with fully trained and certified Instructors and SCUBA divers.
We work with the most innovative and respected manufacturers and by buying in volume and solidifying great deals we can pass them on to you, the customer! All stores are generously stocked with over 100 quality brands of equipment for your shopping pleasure.
Divers Supply is committed to providing all of our customers with the best value for their dollar. If you don`t see something, please call one of our friendly operators at 1-800-999-3483 and just ask. We are continually updating our website and sometimes all products are not depicted.

Location description: A lot of advices!
For example:
Masks
Masks give you clear vision underwater, protects your face and eyes from irritants in the water, keeps water out of your nose and gives you some protection from cold water.
Unlike our amphibious ancestors, our eyes have evolved for clear vision in air, not water. That`s why when you open your eyes underwater, your vision is blurred. The diving mask places a layer of air between your eyes and the water, clearing your underwater vision.
Goggles (for swimming laps) should never be used for snorkeling and/or scuba diving because there is no way to equalize the air pressure around your eyes when you descend.
If you wear glasses or contacts, you should have prescription lenses made for your mask. Diving with a prescription mask is easier and safer for many divers than diving with contact lenses.
Since every diver has different features of his/her face (nose, eye width, face width, moustaches, etc.) selecting the right mask requires the professional assistance of your Diving Instructor or a Scuba Sciences` employee. We will make sure the mask fits the contours of your face.
A Proper Fitting Mask for you to select should have:
Tempered glass to resist scratching and breaking This also provides safety in case something hits your mask while diving.
Double seal along the mask edge This is very effective in keeping water out.
Flexible mask straps These straps comfortably secure the mask strap to your face.
Locking Devices These locks are used to keep your mask strap from slipping under stress.
Finger pockets Equalization of your ears is much easier with a finger or nose pocket.
Silicone material Masks should be made of silicone in either clear, black, blue, or gray. Silicone is the most durable material for masks.
Clear vision Your mask should provide you with a good range of peripheral vision.
Purge (Optional) Purge valves help the diver when clearing the water from the inside of the mask.
What to Look For - A good watertight fit.
1. Look up at the ceiling and place the mask on your face without using the strap. It should rest evenly with no gaps.
2. Place a regulator or snorkel mouthpiece in your mouth. Does the mask still feel comfortable? Any gaps yet?
3. Look forward. Place the mask on your face without using the strap and gently inhale through your nose. The mask should seal easily on your face. Caution: A strong inhale will close minor leak areas and invalidate this test.
4. Repeat the sniff test with a mouthpiece in place.
5. If the mask is still in the running, adjust the strap and put it on your face. Make sure the nose pocket doesn`t touch your nose and that the skirt feels comfortable on your upper lip.
6. Put the regulator mouthpiece in one more time to make sure you can easily reach the nose pocket to equalize your ears.
Cost - From $25 to $150.
