Company description Fill Express serves the SCUBA diving community by providing retail services and equipment focused on Nitrox and technical diving. Our state-of-the-art facility blends an exceptionally wide variety of compressed gas mixtures used in all types of diving. We sell and rent cylinders and equipment for use in sport and technical diving. We provide instruction in Nitrox and technical SCUBA diving, as well as gas blending. We arrange Nitrox and technical dives with many of the area diving charter boats. We also do business on-line as an internet retailer under the name Dive Rite Express.

Fill Express is proud to be a Dive Rite Tekreational Dive Center. This means that we sell, rent, and service the widest possible selection of Dive Rite brand equipment, and it is our primary equipment solution to a variety of diving needs. Fill Express is one of Dive Rite`s largest volume retailers in the U.S. and worldwide.
Fill Express offers visual cylinder inspections to Professional Scuba Inspectors, Inc. (PSI) standards. All of the Fill Express staff are PSI trained to identify unsafe cylinders, understand safe policies for filling cylinders, and perform the procedures to qualify a SCUBA cylinder for continued service. The PSI program is the only visual inspector training recommended by the US Department of Transportation (DOT).
Fill Express, LLC operates a 2,500 square-foot retail walk-in store front and warehouse located at Verona Plaza on Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach, Florida. Fill Express, LLC is a member-managed limited liability company organized in the State of Florida. We hold occupational licenses for retail sales, equipment rental, and SCUBA instruction in Broward County and the City of Pompano Beach.
Fill Express is a DAN Business Member of the Divers Alert Network. Fill Express supports the south Florida diving community by donating FREE Oxygen fills for the M9 and Jumbo-D Oxygen cylinders included in the DAN Rescue Paks (some restrictions apply).
Fill Express meets the standards of the International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers and an Platinum Premier IANTD Full Service Technical Facility. Our principle member-manager, Mr. Mark Derrick, has been certified by IANTD as a Gas Blender Instructor, Nitrox Diver Instructor, Trimix Diver Instructor and Rebreather Diver Instructor.
Fill Express meets the standards of International Training as a 5-Star SDI/TDI Dive Center. Our principle member-manager, Mr. Mark Derrick, has been certified by Technical Diving International as a Gas Blender Instructor, Nitrox Diver Instructor, Trimix Diver Instructor and Rebreather Diver Instructor.
Highly skilled, caring certified instructors teach at Fill Express. Instruction includes as applicable:
•Goal-oriented classroom interaction;
•Sharing of extensive personal experiences;
•In-depth, hands-on practice;
•Personalized training of individuals and small groups, essential for safe diving.
Fill Express offers the entire IANTD and DAN catalog of training courses. We can combine and otherwise tailor our courses to your experience level and needs. Courses include:
Open Water Diver, Nitrox Diver, Advanced Nitrox Diver, Deep Diver, Technical Diver, Technical Diver Supervisor, Normoxic Trimix Diver, Trimix Diver, Wreck Diver, Technical Wreck Diver, Specialty Diver, Divemaster, Nitrox and Trimix Gas Blender, Diving First Aid, Oxygen Provider and REMO2. Instructor and Instructor Trainer courses are also available.
We accept referrals for the in-water completion of your IANTD training. Call us so that you and your instructor can discuss your needs.
Location description: The warm Atlantic waters off Southeast Florida-- for average temperatures--wash over three unique north-south running coral reef lines. The first reef is just 100 yards from shore at its closest points and is at a depth of about 20 feet. The second reef is 2/3 of a mile from shore and is at a depth of 30 - 40 feet. The third reef is about a mile from shore and depth ranges from 50 - 70 feet. Reef dives here are done as drift dives because there is usually a mild northbound current.
Courtesy of the Broward County Artificial Reefs Program (BCARP), over 25 ships ranging from 31 to 290 feet in length (most allowing penetration) and several large structures rest on the ocean floor at depths that appeal to sport and technical divers. Our numerous artificial reefs, together with our abundant natural reefs, are haven for fish and invertebrate life causing the Greater Fort Lauderdale area to be recognized by Scuba Diving Magazine with Top Ten World`s Best awards for Marine Life and for Wreck Diving.
Shore Diving
The favorite shore dive for customers at Fill Express is off Datura Avenue, one block South of Anglin`s Pier on East Commercial Boulevard in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. Regarded by many as the ``Best Shore Dive in Florida,`` the area hosts 266 species and 64 families of fish. The Shipwreck Snorkel Trail includes an authentic anchor, replicas of cannons, and ballast piles.
Created in 2002 because of Datura Avenue`s popularity among divers, the Marine Archeology Council (MAC) and South Florida Reef Research Team (SFRRT) spent four years obtaining the permits necessary to place the Shipwreck Snorkel Trail just before the first reef line. This site is a replica of what would be left from a shipwreck in the early 1800s. All artifacts are within a 100` x 20` area. A set of two concrete replica cannons is on the North side and three on the South side of the site.
An authentic anchor has a pile of ballast stones in the middle. The ballast stones, made from limestone, have become home to a variety of juvenile tropical fish. Get your light out and spend some time looking around the pile and see how many different fish you can find. During the day you can find ``Manny`` the Mannytooth Conger Eel seeking shelter deep in the pile until dusk when he heads out to feed.
