Get Certified!
Getting certified to scuba dive with Harry`s Dive Shop is as easy as 1-2-3. With our own heated, indoor, 16` deep, on-site pool, you don`t have to travel anywhere else.
Harry`s Dive Shop stocks top quality, name brand equipment at competitive prices.
With both the pool and class at the same location, you have the advantage of trying out and exchanging any equipment you purchased from us.
Step #1
Choose and purchase which of our academic course formats best fits your schedule.
A. Private Lessons (coordinated between you and the instructor) - $599
B. One Weekend Accelerated Course - $299
C. Three weeks / two nights each week (M/W or T/Th) - $299
Step #2
After deciding which of our SCUBA course schedules fits yours, sign-up, pay for and pick up your SCUBA course academic materials. Purchase your mask, snorkel, fins, boots, and weighted belt. Watch video chapters assigned, read chapters assigned, answer study guide questions, highlight answers from chapters, and lastly, transfer the answers to your ``Ticket`` to the class. The answer sheets are in the back of the Study Guide.

Choose your certification trip option from the following list:
A. Caribbean Vacation Trip (certification dives) - at $150 plus trip
B. Scheduled Certification Trips - $250 plus rentals
C. Referral Letter - Take to the vacation destination of your choice - $75

80 cubic foot aluminum air tank with ``K`` valve - $ 8.00
80 cubic foot aluminum tank with 32% Nitrox - $11.50
36% Nitrox - $12.50
Coldwater wetsuit hood - $5.00
Weights and/or belt (up to 24 lbs.) - $6.00
Rentals are on a basis of 24 hours or fraction thereof. If you request to rent a specific item by its identification number,
you must pay for it at the time of reservation.
Like hotels, we require a signed charge slip that remains open until you return all rented items.
We rent scuba diving equipment to certified SCUBA divers so carry your certification card with you.

Our Pool
The pool behind Harry`s Dive Shop in Metairie was built in 1976 by the late Harry Caldwell, his family, their friends, and ultimately a local construction company.
It was designed with the sole purpose of diver training in mind. The 16 foot depth allows for training in neutral buoyancy (neither touching the bottom nor breaking the surface) and experience in the effects of water pressure. The drop-off from the shallow end to the deep end is steep enough to simulate descending down a boat`s anchor line. The graduated descent allows adequate time for a diver`s ears to adapt to increasing pressure.
Harry`s Dive Shop pool is also used in training of many other realms of water safety such as cold water survival, helicopter escape techniques, lifeguard training, basic water rescue and survival, etc... nationally known organizations such as Chevron Oil, Shell Oil, Mobil Oil, U.S. Customs, U.S. Department of the interior Minerals Management Agency, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, U.S. Navy, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as well as the Jefferson Parish Sheriff`s Office, New Orleans Police Department, and Aquarium of the Americas use our pool for in-water training exercises.
