Company description
WELCOME TO THE BOSTON HARBOR DIVING COMPANY
We offer a full range of PADI SCUBA diving classes from beginner to divemaster, including many specialties. Our focus is small, customized classes to fit your busy schedule. Basic SCUBA classes are offered in either a group or private format.
SCUBA diving charters are available Thursday thru Sunday during the summer months. Our diving charters are small and custom tailored to your diving abilities and dive objectives. See the charters link above for more information.
For those that like to stay above the water we offer ``Island Hopping`` tours of the Boston Harbor Islands National Park. Enjoy a day of fun and adventure exploring as many as 10 different islands. Downtown evening cruises are also available.
SCUBA DIVING CHARTERS
Boston Harbor offers some great SCUBA diving sites for all ability levels. Explore island coastlines, underwater ledges, and sunken shipwrecks. Our charters are small, only 3 divers are needed to run a trip and we maximize the number of divers on the boat at 6. If you are the 1st diver to book a charter, you can pick the location of the dive sites on that charter. The small nature of our SCUBA diving charters allows us to customize your trip to enhance your experience with us. No matter what level of experience you have, there is a dive site for you in Boston Harbor.

Divesites
Romance is a wreck dive for advanced divers only. She sank in Sept. of 1936 when she collided with another ship. The wreckage lies scattered on a sandy/gravel type bottom. Some pieces of the wreckage rise 15 to 20 feet off the ocean floor. Visibility is usually lower at this site, due to currents and the bottom composition. Depths range from about 70` to 80`.
Kiowa is a wreck dive, but advanced certification is not necessary for the dive. She sank in Dec. of 1903, after colliding with another ship. The Kiowa lies fairly intact on the ocean floor. You can still make out the outline of the ship`s structure. Some pieces of the wreckage rise 10` off the bottom. A current is noticeable here. Depths range from 30` to 40`. The bottom tends to be gravel/rocky.
Nahant offers great diving sites for all ability levels, around the whole outer tip--lots of color and marine life to be seen here. Awesome rock formations to explore as well. Lobstering is also popular around here. Plus you don`t have to worry about getting a parking ticket!!! Depths range from 10` to over 60`. Bottom type is mostly rocky, with areas of gravel and patchy sand.
Tewksbury Rock is a great site for those who like a multi-level dive. This large rock pinnacle sits just below the surface at about 15`-18`, then quickly descends to depths over 60`. Good lobstering at this site too. This site is very rocky up top, and becomes a hard gravel at the bottom. Usually a lot of marine life in the area too.
Martin`s Ledge is very similar to Tewksbury Rock (see above). This site begins at around 20` to 25`, then quickly drops to over 70`. Usually a fair amount of marine life is encountered around the rock. Rock formations are awesome here, with large pinnacles, and deep crevices. The bottom type is very rocky.
Grave`s Lighthouse is a great dive site with lots of color, and large rocks/boulders to explore. Striped bass, are a common site here during the summer months. Depths range from 10` to about 70`. The slowly sloping bottom stops about 70`,and turns to a sandy/gravel type bottom. This site is much like Cathedral Rocks on Cape Ann. Probably one of the best dive sites in Boston Harbor!!
Devil`s Back Ledge was the site of numerous shipwrecks throughout the years, however, not many signs of wreckage are visible in now. Depths range from only 10` to about 40` in some areas. Currents tend to be strong here. The bottom is very rocky and kelpy, then comes to a gravel type bottom.
Middle Brewster Island offers many great diving sites all around the whole island. The sites are very rocky, with lots of color, and marine life to enjoy. Lobstering is very popular here. In the winter months there is a large colony of harbor seals in the area. Depths range from 10` to about 50`.
