Join The Hunt For The Big Tooth!:
We strive to give you a safe, enjoyable experience that you will want to repeat. We use certified Divemasters on every trip and you will appreciate the job these guys do. You will have time for two to three dives of about 1 hour to 1 12 hours duration each dive, often times even longer. We charter the whole boat for a flat fee to your group of six people or less. We encourage you to bring your camera for this area is beautiful, and affords many opportunities to photograph wildlife. We often encounter Eagles, Herons, Egrets, Ospreys, Ducks and everybody`s favorite, the American Alligator.
Yes, we find giant sharks teeth and lots of them, some up to 5 & 6 inches in length! But we also find the fossil remains of many other creatures that we find exciting. Take a look at a partial listing of our actual finds. Most are extinct.
We also find artifacts left by man from the time of the pre-historic Indians, The Colonial America period, The Revolutionary War, The Civil War and yesterdays` fisherman. Among other things we find...
We are now diving off our brand new, custom built, river dive boat. The MEGALODON is a 30` X 8 12` boat with oversized pontoons for huge carrying capacity. Built in 2001 and rigged specifically for SCUBA diving, The MEGALODON is powered by a brand new 100 HP 4-Stroke Yamaha outboard. You will find it a very functional, fun boat to dive. It is equipped with all required safety gear, depth finder, GPS, water temp gauge, cell phone, marine radio, CD player, oxygen, custom built tank racks, and an oversized easy to board ladder. Plenty of space!!!

Our divers come to us from all over the country, and from overseas, excited at the prospect of diving our world-famous fossil rivers. They range in age from 14 yrs to Great-grandfathers, some are brand-new divers, and others are experienced, having been SCUBA diving literally all over the world. Most of them return to us time and again, and many become our very good friends. It has been a very great pleasure to meet and work with these fine people, who really enjoy our ``South Carolina style`` of diving and hospitality!
Location description: The Crew
The Captain - Alec Blalock
I am an experienced certified Master Diver with a passion (some say obsession) for hunting river fossils and artifacts. I have 40 years of small boat experience, and am licensed by the USCG to carry up to 6 passengers. I know the river and get a great deal of satisfaction sharing my love of this great sport thru my guide service. I am a 1969 graduate of Clemson University (Go Tigers!). I have successfully completed The Field Training Course administered by The Underwater Division of The South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology. I have been appointed to the SCIAA Committee on dive safety for the year 2003.
The Divemasters:
*Ronnie Williams
I live and work in Rock Hill SC and met the crew of Deep South Rivers as a returning customer. I am Service Manager of Clayton Homes. I am an experienced PADI certified Divemaster and have enjoyed the sport since 1991. My favorite dive sites include Bonaire, Roatan, The Bahamas and especially The Cooper River. I am also a NSSCDS certified cave diver and enjoy The Florida Caves. Several of my finds include South Carolina Dispensary Bottles, whole Indian pots, clay trade pipes, beautiful Indian spear points and lots of big big teeth.
*Doug Ferguson
I have been hunting and fishing the Cooper River Ace Basin area for over thirty years. After finishing my O/W certification, I logged my 5th open water dive in the Cooper River. Immediately, I became hooked on dark-water diving in search of fossils and artifacts. Currently, I have logged over 100 dives in the Cooper and surrounding rivers. Over the last few years, I have found Indian artifacts, old bottles, and countless shark’s teeth. Some of the more impressive finds include a 6-inch Megalodon Tooth, several 5 inch Meg Teeth, and a molar from a Mastodon.
I have been a PADI DiveMaster since 2002. In August 2003, I finished my TDI Cavern class and began making trips to Florida, trading one dark environment for another during the cold months. I am planning to obtain my cave diving certification during the summer of 2004.
I am the newest addition to the crew of DEEP SOUTH RIVERS, serving aboard The MEGALODON starting in 2003.
