Company description Captains Darrell and Ann Stadler, owners and operators of Island Ventures, are dedicated to providing you with a safe, fun and exciting adventure while you are down here in the Florida Keys. Ann is a Certified PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and is experienced in all the facets of diver training. Darrell is also PADI certified as an Open Water Scuba Instructor. Whether you choose a one day scuba experience program or an advanced specialty course, Darrell and Ann are here to make your experience as enjoyable as possible! With many years of diving experience, coupled with first hand knowledge of the reefs and wrecks here in the Keys, you can`t ask for better diving assistance.
The Universal Referral Program is a collaborative effort between six U.S. based training agencies (SDI, IDEA, PDIC, NASDS, NAUI, SSI, and YMCA), to make the open water referral process easier for divers, referral locations, and Instructors. It allows an Instructor from any one participating agency to conduct referrals for all six different agencies. This means Universal Referral Locations can do referrals for any of the six participating agencies!
The Open Water Dives component of the full certification course for divers who did their classroom and pool training at their local dive shop prior to arriving.
Advances in equipment and training have opened the underwater world to a wide range of people. Children as young as ten are enjoying scuba diving with their parents, while learning about the ocean environment. Adults seek adventure on an offshore shipwreck or a Caribbean shark diving expedition, while older couples frequent live-aboard dive boats in the South Pacific as part of a retirement exploration.
Island Ventures offers only one-on-one or small group classes for your family and friends. We do not teach the large open enrollment classes that are commonly available. This means you will learn with people you know, at your pace and without the disruptions and waiting around found in a large scuba diving class. We focus on making each and every person we train a safe, confident diver.
Island Ventures will provide all the scuba equipment for your program. In the pool and in the ocean we will introduce you to a variety of pieces of equipment specifically designed for men, women and children.
On completion of your training, you will receive an internationally recognized certification card from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). This card entitles you to dive independently, within the limits of your training and experience, participate in advanced training and purchase or rent equipment. You are, of course, ultimately responsible for diving within your comfort level.
Open Water Course--This is a 3 or 4 day course, done at your pace (your schedule). Lots of options in this course. This is not Rocket Science. This course is made up of Academics---Pool time---And 4 Ocean dives.
We will mail you the book for you to begin your learning at your pace. Before you arrive, you should have read and answered the questions for chapters 1-3 in the book.
Once you are in town we get together--review any and all information-leaving no questions!
All diving skills and gear “comfortabilities” are reviewed and completed here.
4 Ocean dives with instructor consisting of 2 half day charters. All diving skills already mastered in pool are performed in the Ocean.
The ``Resort or Discovery course``--This is a one day program to try scuba diving. It is Not a Certification course.
Discover scuba diving consists of a short academic presentation on scuba diving and the gear. Jump in the pool for a quick review of some skills. Play in pool until you are comfortable with the gear. Go to lunch. 2 ocean dives with Instructor in the afternoon. Shallow dives on a reef or wreck.
Upon completion of this experience you may apply this course toward your Open Water course.

Wreck Diving is our specialty! Come dive with us and we`ll take you on your ``Dream Dive`` We offer custom guided tours of Key Largo`s awesome wreck sites.
Try out our brand of ``No Stress`` wreck diving that will give you a dive you`ll remember for a lifetime!
An annual Medallion for diving the artificial reefs of Key Largo will be required. The cost is $10 and the collected monies help maintain the artificial reefs of the Upper Keys. These wrecks include: Duane, Bibb, and USS Spiegel Grove.
The wrecks are also home to a great number of spectacular corals and fish. There are sites that have wreckage from a number of time periods and vessels, for all divers. These dives include, The City of Washington, a ship with a history dating back to the 1800`s and The Benwood, which was sunk during W.W.II times... and more.
Also for the more experienced divers we have the artificial reefs, the US Coastguard ships Duane and Bibb. Since 1987 these sister ships of 327 feet long have done their new and last assignment very well.
The USS Spiegel Grove is a Landing Ship Dock (LSD 32), which is now the largest vessel ever intentionally sunk as an artificial reef. The vessel is 510 feet in length, 84 feet wide. Hurricane Dennis accomplished what man could not: She sits upright - as she was intended to sink! Come and see the great ``new`` wreck of Key Largo!
The ISLAND VENTURE is a US Coast Guard certified 27 foot Island Hopper. Even though the boat is certified for more, we limit each trip to 10-12 divers. Private groups welcome or you may charter the entire boat.
Clean with updated features on board the Island Venture. Your Diving and Snorkeling trip will be the highlight of your vacation.
The WRECK DIVER is our specialty boat. With the ability to also carry 8-10 divers you can request any combination of dive sites to meet your wishes. Dive a wreck like the Spiegel Grove or the Duane.

The Island Venture and the Wreck Diver offer Ice Chests filled with fresh fruit, fruit drinks, and water. Fresh water shower on-board.
Fresh water rinse tanks for cameras and masks on the boat. Individual Tank Holders.
