Company description Ninigret Divers follows PADI`s `Dive Today` philosophy. This method of teaching emphasizes learning at your own pace, and getting you in the water quicker.
Owner/Operator Jim Beardsley is a licensed Coast Guard Captain. He`s been a diving for 15 years, is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor and a DAN Oxygen Provider Instructor.
We embrace PADI`s Dive Today teaching philosophy and feature private and semi-private sessions. You`ll complete academic requirements at home using video tape and other learning materials. When you`re ready, a session is scheduled and, after assuring mastery of the material you learned, we`ll get in the water and DIVE.
PADI certifications are offered locally during the summer, and year-round through Scuba Shack. For details on course and equipment requirements, schedules, etc, contact us.

Breathing 100% Oxygen is the treatment of choice for decompression illness, and all divers should be trained in its use.
Our new boat ``Tresta``, was purchased in the spring of 2000 and has turned out to be a great dive boat. A stand-up enclosed cabin is just one of the features that make her a comfortable and safe boat.
Charter fee covers transporting you and your equipment to and from the dive sites, and dive boat amenities (shower, drinking water, snacks, iced cooler etc.). Let us know if you want a divemaster/guide, special assistance or rental equipment at time of booking so appropriate arrangements can be made.
Cost of a 2 dive trip is $110.00 per diver; $30.00 bubble watcher (non-diver).
A deposit of $50.00 is required at time of booking (cash or credit card). Deposit will be 100% refunded if trip is cancelled by Ninigret Divers (weather, boat unavailability, insufficient bookings) or customer cancels no less than three days (72 hours) prior to scheduled departure.
If trip is aborted by Captain due to weather, unsafe diving conditions or other reasons prior to first dive, full charter fee will be refunded or applied to another trip at divers option; if after first dive refund will be $45.00. Ninigret Divers, LLC assumes no obligation to provide refunds to divers who miss scheduled sailing times, choose not to dive, or whose equipment is judged by the Captain to be unsafe.
Divemasters/guides are not paid crew and a gratuity for their services is customary.
Minimum of three divers needed to sail, call for private charter rates.
Boat Policies:
*TRESTA is a “NO SMOKING” vessel.
*No alcohol, drugs, or firearms permitted on the boat.
*Liability release, and equipment rental forms if needed, must be completed prior to boarding.
*Divers must show proof of diver certification (C-card) and demonstrate diving experience (log book) prior to boarding.
*Divers expected to arrive no less than 30 minutes prior to sailing.
Location description: We are on ``Quonny Pond`` in Charlestown, Rhode Island. Quonny is a salt pond (it has access to the ocean), this means that we have easy access to many dive sites in and around the Watch Hill, Point Judith, and Block Island areas. We visit many wrecks.
Our season begins May 1 and runs through November 1.
We`re available seven days a week and fill charters on a ``first come-first served`` basis.
oDive boat TRESTA may be unavailable for charter due to patrol commitments to US Coast Guard. Full cancellation refund policy will apply.
Charters depart at 8:00 AM and return at approximately 1:00PM for a 2 tank dive trip. Dive locations and sailing times are influenced by the weather, trip objectives, group size and preference. We will attempt to meet any reasonable schedule requests but the final decision rests with the boat Captain.
Dive Sites: Listed here are some of the popular sites we frequent. On any trip we will try to accommodate the choices of those on board. Of course sea conditions and the weather will influence the Captain`s decision which is in all cases final. If you have a dive site in mind let us know and we`ll do our best to get you there.
Olinda is a comfortable dive and training site in a cove on the South Side of Fishers Island.
Block Island Pinnacle: Dive among giant glacial morain bolders South of Block Island. Currents can run strong across this site.
Drift Dives: Boulder fields along South shore of Rhode Island and around Block Island offer fun relaxing drift dives.
Black Point: Visit the ship the U-853 sank.
Mary Arnold and Progress: 60 foot dives on a tug and barge that sank in 1940 just off our shore.
Idene: RI`s `Hollywood` wreck - a steel fishing vessal that is upright and intact at 90 feet.
Onadaga: Dive this freighter wreck on Watch Hill Reef only at slack tide.
Lightburne: The remains of this Texaco tanker lie in 25 feet of water on the Block Island South-East coast.
Essex: Adjacent to the Lightburne on a sandy bottom this wreckage field is another good shallow dive.
Heroine: An 80 foot dive on a partially broken-up steam fishing vessel. Currents and an open exposure can make this a challenging dive.
Grecian: 5 Miles South of Block Island this interesting wreck lies in 95 feet of water.
Anapolis: Dive on the remains of a wooden schooner barge.
