Company description
The Nordic Diver is a 33 foot 1989 Bayliner Fly Bridge Motor Yacht. She has 18 knot cruising capability and is completely outfitted for Great Lakes Diving. Including swim platform, diver friendly ladder and onboard compressor. She is all fiberglass and sleeps six plus crew. Full head & hot shower, galley with stove & oven & microwave & refrigerator, stateroom, vee berth and salon. Full service air station onboard. 660 cuft of oxygen onboard and dropped to 20 feet for technical decompression.
The RV Xplorer is a 24 foot Thompson. She has 30 knot cruising speed with twin Volvo engines. Completely outfitted for sidescanning and technical diving.
Look at the choice of locations, the variety of diving experiences, but most of all consider the quality of wreck diving you will experience aboard the ``Nordic Diver``! We believe that no one else can bring you the same quality of diving and charter services for live aboard, weekend, or for day trips anywhere on the Great Lakes. Training also available.
We offer dive trips from May through November. Home port is Milwaukee WI., in addition to this we offer trips originating from place like Manitowoc WI., Straits and Whitefish Pt. to name a few.
We welcome Technical & Tri mix Certified Wreck Divers. This Is our specialty & you will see in our Web Site we offer Deeper More Remote Wreck Dives for the Experienced & Certified Diver. We have over 20 years experience in technical diving in the Great Lakes & on most trips both Captain & crew will be Tri-Mix certified.
We offer Sport Diving Trips from our home Port of Milwaukee WI. & we have a wide variety of Wrecks for every level of Diver to enjoy.
Expand the adventure of scuba diving by exploring the wrecks of the Great Lakes, their stories, history and the storms of the past . Join us in Shipwreck Diving, Decompression Procedures, and Basic and Advance Nitrox classes. These classes are designed to make you more knowledgeable, letting you explore these wrecks longer and more comfortably using safe techniques.
For the convenience of our customers, classes can be taught at different locations and all dives will be on board the Nordic Diver. Instructors will be Bill Prince, Le Roy Richardson and Ken Wagner who have been diving Great Lakes and Ocean wrecks for a number of years.
Shipwreck Survey & Penetration
We are offering Survey and Penetration Wreck diving classes. These classes will introduce you to researching wrecks, how to survey and Penetrate wrecks safely. The use of wrecks reels, Emergency Ascent lines, lift bags, pony and stage bottles and larger volume tanks and doubles tanks set ups.
Prerequisites:
Must be 18 years old, advance open water certification, 25 logged dives
Location: Classes will be taught at different locations all dives will be on board the Nordic Diver.
Cost $199.00
Decompression Procedures
We are teaching the techniques and procedures for exploring the wreck longer and deeper through the knowledge of decompression procedures and the ability to generate you own table using popular modern dive software. We will teach you to rig double, pony/ stage bottles
Prerequisites:
Must be 18 years old, advance open water certification, 25 logged dives
Cost $349.00
Basic Nitrox - 22% to 40%
Prerequisites:
Must be 18 years old, basic open water certification, 5 logged dives
Cost $199.00 or $99.00 if taken with another class.
Advanced Nitrox - 41% to 100%
Increase No decompression bottoms times and decrease decompression obligations by learning and using advance nitrox procedures.
Prerequisites:
Must be 18 years old, Advanced Diver Cert., Basic Nitrox Cert., 25 logged dives.

Location description:
Milwaukee, Wisconsin located on the western shore for Lake Michigan, an area that has much to offer including great wreck diving. The shipwrecks in this area vary greatly in depth and quality. We, at Nordic Ventures, are proud to offer you the opportunity to dive this great location. The following is a partial list of shipwrecks available to dive in the Milwaukee area.
•Prins Wilhelm V- A 250 foot Dutch Freighter sank after it collided with another vessel October 14, 1954 just 3 3/4 miles east of Milwaukee. With 50 to 80 feet of water over the top of the wreck, she is the most popular intact shipwreck in all of Lake Michigan.
•906 Dredge- A large crane barge sunk in 1962. In 30 to 55 feet of water, she is upside down held off the bottom with her boom.
•Kate Kelly- A 126 foot two masted schooner foundered in a storm May 14, 1895. Wreckage is scattered in 30 to 50 feet of water, 2 miles east of Milwaukee.
•Gillen Tug- A small, 65 foot tug sank in heavy seas on June 3, 1981, 2 1/2 miles east of Milwaukee. She lies in 70 feet of water, intact, standing on an even keel.
•Norland- A 153 foot freighter and passenger steamer built in 1890 in Manitowoc, WI foundered in heavy seas November 13, 1922. The remains lie in 65 feet of water southwest of Milwaukee with her boilers upright and are interesting to explore.
•Lumberman- An intact 129 foot three masted schooner capsized in a storm April 7, 1892. She is an open hull with many small artifacts remaining. She lies in 65 feet of water 6 miles south of Milwaukee.
•Milwaukee Car Ferry- A 318 foot steel railroad car ferry loaded with 27 box cars and 52 passengers encountered tremendous seas and sank October 22, 1929. She lies in 90 to 120 feet of water sitting upright and intact, 6 miles northeast of Milwaukee.
•Wisconsin- A 203 foot steamer went down in a storm October 29, 1929. She lies in 90 to 130 feet of water 6 miles east of Kenosha. Some passenger cabins still remain intact.
•Rosinco- A small steel, hulled yacht that sank in a storm September 19, 1929. She lies 185 in feet of water 10 miles east of Kenosha.
•EMBA- A converted three masted schooner barge that was scuttled in 1932. She lies 7 miles east of Milwaukee in 170 feet of water. A very intact wreck.
•St. Albans (Milwaukee`s finest shipwreck)- A wooden steamer built in 1868 used to haul passengers and freight throughout the lower Great Lakes. Hit ice and sank on January 30, 1881. She is intact standing upright in 165 feet of water, 7 miles east of Milwaukee.
•Grace Channon- Sunk in 185 feet of water, the schooner was 168 feet in length. She was built in 1873, and went down in 1877 and is on a even keel, total intact with the cabin still on the main deck.
