When you travel on Nekton`s Liveaboards you are living aboard a super stable mini-cruise ship that travels to beautiful remote tropical diving areas so you can experience comfortable adventures on the water. Similar to large cruise ships, you`ll have a private cabin with lavatory and shower, picture windows and twin or queen-size beds. With Nekton`s unique SWATH Liveaboards, you`ll experience a smooth ride even in rough seas. You`ll also enjoy delicious dining and snacks, a huge partially covered sundeck with soothing Jacuzzi, and a comfortable salon with couches, TV and computer.
What`s different about Nekton`s Liveaboards compared to large cruise ships and other live-aboards is our unique SWATH Liveaboards that are custom designed and built just for SCUBA divers -- small enough to provide an intimate setting and get to the out-of-the way dive sites, yet big enough to provide the stability, comfort, amenities and economies-of-scale affordability of larger ships. With our permanent mooring systems, and by diving directly from our Liveaboards, the time spent traveling to the reef and lugging equipment is minimized and more in-water adventures are possible. By participating in Nekton`s Learn to Dive for FREE program, you will soon become a PADI Open Water Diver.
The PADI course is divided into three segments:
(1) Academic Training
(2) Confined Water Training (pool)
(3) Open-Water Training
Academic training gives you the basic principles and knowledge you need for safe and enjoyable diving.; Confined water training takes place in a pool and will teach you the basic skills of diving. Open water training allows you to practice and demonstrate your mastery of these skills in a typical open water diving situation.
With 5 opportunities to dive almost every day, new divers can complete their check out dives in no time - and then are free to dive at every opportunity thereafter.
Nekton also offers and encourages all of the PADI advanced diving certifications. Many divers go on to get their PADI advanced open water certification and Nekton provides a great way to do this!

Nekton`s Liveaboards utilize a unique Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) design technology to provide you with the smoothest ride unlike any other live-aboards.
Why are SWATH vessels so stable? The key is the two submarine-like pontoons that can ride completely submerged beneath the surface of the water.
Nekton`s live-aboards are approximately 25 meters (80 feet) long and 12 meters (40 feet) wide. Propulsion is provided by two large 850 Kilowatt diesel engines located down aft in the pontoons thus isolating the guest area from noise and vibration and providing for more space.
120Volt/60Hz electrical power is delivered to every cabin by redundant diesel generators. Ballast tanks in the pontoons can be flooded with seawater and pumped out by huge pumps in very short notice. Ballasting up (catamaran mode) allows for shallow water harborage (1.8 meters/6 feet) and maximum speed. Ballasting down SWATH mode) provides for maximum stability.
The entire dive platform with stairs raises and lowers via hydraulic lifts making for easy access to and from the water.
The Nekton`s live-aboards have modern instrumentation and communications including a global Inmarsat satellite phone with voice and fax; a side scanning SONAR, dual D-GPS navigation; RADAR; real-time weather data; EPIRB; SSB short-wave and VHF radios; and cellular telephone.
Onboard fresh water is provided by high capacity desalinators and compressed SCUBA air is provided by certified dual redundant high capacity SCUBA compressors.
All cabins are spacious suites with private bathrooms, full sized showers, push-button heads, large picture windows, and twin or queen size beds for maximum comfort and privacy. Independent air-conditioning controls in each cabin.
Huge 2000 square foot sundeck has chairs, tables, chaise lounges, a Jacuzzi and a shaded area with hanging storage for wetsuits, and additional cubby storage for gear.
