Welcome to Keppel Coast Dive Centre, Located right on the beautiful coast of central QLD.

This is a dive operation run by divers whose main interest is to take fellow divers to their favourite sites that we enjoy ourselves and share a sport that we love being a part of.

The staff consists of local divers as well as divers from all over Australia and overseas giving the passengers the best of both worlds, local and international experience and knowledge.

CQ divers have a choice, an appealing alternative to the crowded dive sites and jammed boats that plunder the waters of Cairns, Townsville and the like.

Our operation is based at Rosslyn Bay Marina, approximately 35 kilometers East of Rockhampton where you will find our 8 metre Cougar Cat “Jack” berthed at the bottom of the ramp for easy walk on access and all your dive gear waiting aboard with the next step being off the back of the boat into your first dive site only a short distance away.

We like to get under way by 8am each day but flexability is our aim so if you don’t ask you wont know what we can do.

All of our day trips for scuba divers include tanks and weight belts, toilet facilities as well as a changing area with privacy screen. A large canopy also provides plenty of protection from the tropical sun or for the sun bakers, stretch out in the bow area. There is also plenty of room at the rear of the vessel to eat lunch and chat about the great dive sites.

Our vessel “Jack” is a 8 metre cougar cat, giving a nice smooth comfortable trip, is equipped with twin outboard motors which allows us to go as fast or as slow as we want. A vast list of safety equipment, quality electronics package, CD player for music to laze away those surface intervals in the sun, ample dry storage, cool drinks/food containers, unobstructured easy access on and off the vessel and is 3 metres wide which provides plenty of room for divers, snorkellers, photographers and non swimmers alike.

Our friendly, qualified staff will assist with any request and try to ensure your trip is enjoyable and safe; they will also do all the work which allows you to relax and enjoy the day.

Some of the services on offer include day trips for scuba divers, snorkellers, fishing charters, spear fishing and private charters, transfers, air fills, gear hire and equipment sales and servicing, overnight charters and night dives on request and flexible extended operating hours.

With seven main islands to choose from and depending on the weather this gives us over 100 dive sites to choose from including Barren and Child, Egg Rock, Man and Wife, Outer Rock, Keppel Island. These sites also provide varying depths and marine life but cover from prevailing weather. Beach access and facilities are accessible on some islands, but only if you’re nice to the skipper.

BIG PENINSULA provides good protection from the weather and max depth is 12- 14 metres on a sandy bottom next to a fringing reef where you might meet the locals including Remoras, Wobbegong Sharks hiding inside the truck tyres, cruising Pelagics, Leopard Rays and colourful reef fish amongst the coral

MAN AND WIFE not only has a very distinct natural rock formation but has a shelf at about 8 metre to cater for students and photographers and their macro shots after a deeper dive to a maximum of 22 – 25 metres with average visibility of 15 – 20 metres. Lots of sponges and corals cover this site with inquisitive sea snakes and clown fish to play with.

BARREN AND CHILD offers everything from deep dives, 30 metres, to shallower reefs where you can drift amongst the colourful sponges and coral and stop along the way to snap that memorable photo of the Turtles, Bat fish, Spanish Dancers, travelling Pelagics, Sharks, Rays, Snakes as well as the more timid Nudibranchs and tropical fish. Great site for photographers who can visit the large overhang and watch the Wobbegong Sharks feed on the schools of small fish. These islands are a favourite of the staff.

OUTER ROCK is a popular site for both divers and fishermen alike as it provides good protection from wind and currents while giving good access to divers from shallow depths down to 18 metres. The bottom composition also makes navigation easy while still enjoying the marine life. Turtles and Sea Snakes are seen on a regular basis here as are cruising Mackerel and Tuna, painted Crayfish, Coral Trout, Dog Sharks, large Anemone beds, Sea Whips, Clams and some very nice coral formations. Depths range from 3 metres to 18 metres.

EGG ROCK would be one of the premier dive sites and is always memorable. This would be due to it being a” green zone” meaning no fishing, no touching or collecting, just enjoy the beautiful scenery while being chaperoned by schools of Trevally, Batfish, Tawny Nurse Sharks, Sea Snakes and playful Turtles. This is one of those dive sites that can’t truly be described until you’ve seen it yourself and experienced a small protected part of the Great Barrier Reef, which will guarantee to put a smile on your dial.
