Company description The Underwater Centre Tasmania (TUCT) is a world leader in diver education and was originally created to address the demand for commercial diver training in the South East Asia Pacific region.
The commercial diving industry has a demand for highly qualified and motivated individuals, and due to the quality of diver training available at The Underwater Centre Tasmania, we are able to supply these individuals.
This has lead to an increase in demand for training in both the domestic and international markets. The Underwater Centre Tasmania has increased its professional training packages to cover all aspects of commercial diving. This provides any individual who wishes to enter into diving, whether as a hobby or as an offshore diver looking to upgrade their accreditation, the opportunity to achieve their goals and have all their training needs met at The Underwater Centre Tasmania.
The commercial accreditation offered by (TUCT) is an ADAS (Australian Diver Accreditation Scheme) qualification. This qualification has reciprocal recognition internationally with the H.S.E (UK), IMCA and the NEB (Canada) to mention but a few.
This allows the ADAS accredited diver to work in practically all regions of the world, providing opportunities for individuals to travel, earn a good living and be confident in the knowledge that as long as they wish to pursue a career in commercial diving, a progressive career path is available to them.
The Underwater Centre Tasmania provides commercial diver training and recreational diver training customised or industry specific.
Standard courses include:
*All levels of commercial diving including saturation diving. In fact we are the only school in the Southern Hemisphere awarded with the certificate to train this course. All courses are ADAS Accredited (www.adas.org.au)
*Wet Welding
*Air & Gas Supervisor
*Diver Medic Technician (DMT)
*Diver First Aid
*IMCA Assistant Life Support Technician (ALST)
*RPL and RFT - replaces ERCA
The Underwater Centre Tasmania also has a small dive shop on the site, which is principally for the students but does also serve local divers.
The shop sells diving equipment and there is a 10% discount for all students. This means it is probably much cheaper to buy any equipment there than in your local shop.
So if you joining us for a course and you want to update your dive equipment we would suggest you checkout our competitive prices. If we do not have what you require we can always order your items especially for you. As well as the usual dive equipment we have a great line in dry suits that are Australian made and very affordable and if you are in the area please call in.

Occupational Air Courses
*FIRST AID COURSES
The Underwater Centre Tasmania also runs DAN first aid courses. These courses are VET registered and can be used as workplace first aid courses in any state in Australia.
*Part 4 Mixed Gas
The bell diving course in Tasmania follows the lines of the ADAS recommendation and if completed successfully will lead to the issuing of an ADAS Part 4 certificate. This certificate is recognised by IMCA and HSE as being equivalent to the HSE bell diving (Part II) certificate and as such will allow you to dive anywhere in the world. You can verify this by visiting the HSE or IMCA websites on http://www.hse.gov.uk or www.imca-int.com. There are of course other schools which can train you to the equivalent of the part 4 but we think all in all ours is the best.
The course is run on our saturation barge that is moored on Lake Cethana, a man made lake on the River Forth in Northern Tasmania. You can either make your way to the Underwater Centre Tasmania at Beauty Point or we will pick you up from the Hotel Tasmania in Launceston (easy access to and from airport). You will be brought to Beauty Point where the first lectures and the administration for the course are commenced. In the afternoon we will transport you to Sheffield where you will be dropped at your accommodation, the Sheffield Hotel.
