Service:

Company description Australia Scuba Diving is managed by two Australian scuba divers Rick and Bernie (G`day...G`day), who together have over 50 years dive experience. We are both NAUI Instructors and Course Directors, and Rick
is also a PADI Dive Instructor. We`ve lived and taught scuba diving in Cairns, and are familiar with Great Barrier Reef dive sites from Lizard Island down to the Whitsunday Islands. We also have extensive experience diving throughout the rest of Australia, and New Zealand, and can assist you with a dive
trip anywhere in the South Pacific.
Diving in Australia and on the Great Barrier Reef is an experience most divers have dreamed about, but few take the opportunity. The Australian portion of the reef extending from Lizard Island above Port Douglas down through the Whitsunday Islands offers some of the most beautiful dive sites in the world.
Australia Scuba Diving is for already certified scuba divers and snorkelers, the links on this page take you to recommended dive companies for live-aboards and day trips. For those who want to learn to dive, finish the sea dives as part of your course, or to up-grade their current diving certification while on holiday, those same links take you to dive shops that teach diving and are geared to accommodate holiday schedules. If you don`t find what you`re looking for or if you need assistance with scheduling and reservations, please don`t hesitate to ask us any questions. We`re here to help you see -- and dive -- the very best the reef has to offer.
Whether
novice to scuba diving or highly experienced.....or somewhere in between, Australia and the Great Barrier Reef has much to offer. And much to offer the snorkeler too! So, if you`re a diver and are looking toward Aus -- or if you`re not but are keen to know just what these waters and the Great Barrier Reef have to offer, we invite you to travel around the site and take a look what our experiences have gathered.
Things forgotten or overlooked prior to arrival at that long-dreamed-of diving vacation can run the gamut, from minor nuisance to major disappointment.
There are numerous areas of interest to the traveller and even though you may be travelling here to learn to dive and see the Reef, it is worth spending more time in the area and explore what else is there. Rainforest walks are prolific, so are day trips north to Port Douglas and the Daintree area. Inland there are massive caves systems that can be explored, lava tubes and rock formations that are exclusive to this area alone.
Our primary reason for obtaining information from you is to assist in booking your diving excursion. Under certain circumstances (for example, when you book a tour), we will require the following information from you:
1. Name (first and last)
2. Credit card number
3. Name on credit card
4. Expiration date on credit card
5. Telephone number (home and/or business)
6. Email address
All credit card information is transmitted across a secure server. We require it to ensure your tour is booked in a timely manner.
Also, there are many links on our web site.
Location description: On of the most popular places is The Great Barrier Reef.
The Great Barrier Reef in Australia is probably the most well known natural wonder of the world. ``World Heritage`` listed in 1981, it`s a truly magnificent marine wilderness and nature reserve, unlike anything else, anywhere else. The Barrier Reef is actually a series of 2100 individual reefs stretching for more than 2300 kilometers, from Papua New Guinea in the north down the Queensland coast to Lady Elliott Island (400 kilometers north of Brisbane, the capital of Queensland). In addition to the reefs, there are some 500 islands, once part of the mainland until the oceans rose tens of thousands of years ago. The Great Barrier Reef is home to over 400 species of coral, 1500 species of fish, 4000 species of mollusc, 500 species of seaweed and 200 species of birds. There are numerous ways to explore this amazing place, from aircraft flyovers to helicopter trips to sailing boats to the general tourist-type, look-see trips. But the only way to really experience this wonderland is first-hand, underwater. If you think you`ve been diving in some amazing places in the world, as the saying goes, ``You ain’t seen nothing yet!``
Your Great Barrier Reef dive experience
So, you would like a scuba diving experience? How do you begin planning? Remember, it is over 2000 kilometers long. If you end up where you can not do what you want to, it can take a fair while to get to where you can. So the ``how-to`` of planning is carefully , and ask questions. That`s what we are here for.
The Northern Reef area runs from Papua, New Guinea to Townsville. There are very few charter boats that venture north of Cooktown, although the north is extraordinary and certainly worth exploring, and there are several resort islands and wilderness islands that cater to more adventuresome tastes. Access North of Lizard Island is possible only on multi-day cruises, of which there are several originating in either Port Douglas or Cairns.
You`ll find the easiest access to the Great Barrier Reef and the widest range of tour options and tour operators between Port Douglas and Townsville. There are a large number of day trips to the that depart from all of the Northern tourist centres (from Port Douglas to Townsville). There are also two-day, three-day and even longer trips, if desired. All are run by very competent operators, and the rules and regulations that govern these operators make here the safest diving location in the world.
On any Reef adventure, and in particular on day trips, you`ll spend the majority of your time travelling to the selected dive site. The further out you go, the less the likelihood of running into crowds, or for that matter, any other human beings at all. Bon voyage!
