Company description Melbourne Diving Services enjoys the convenience of a store located close to the CIty CBD. Our Heidelberg outlet carries an extensive range of all the most popular equipment, is the centre for our equipment servicing and houses our administration offices and knowledge development lecture rooms.
Melbourne Diving School is the longest established Diving school in Australia. Training courses comenced in the early 1950`s with technical assistance from the Royal Australian Navy. Aqua-lungs were not available in those days and divers received training in the use of closed circuit oxygen units of military origins. Our first students were members of what was to become the diving section of the Victorian Police Search and Rescue Squad. `Standard Dress` (Hard-Hat Helmet Diving) courses were also run by the school to train commercial divers for harbour and slavage work. From these early days we have seen Scuba Diving grow to what it is today - an exciting, safe and personally rewarding sport. We have trained divers from all walks of life - including some well-known names in the diving industry!

A recent collaboration between MDS and Dive Victoria allows MDS Members to book onto all Dive Victoria boat dives at the MDS Member Price. Remember you need to book with MDS to receive the member discount.
The famous MDS Bus, avaliable for Dive courses allowing MDS students and Instructors the flexability in dive location and conditions. The Bus is also avaliable to members for special dive trips and night dives also most weekends for transport to Portsea. Enquire at the Heidelberg Centre for seating avaliability.
Melbourne Diving Services club members also receive valuable discounts and exclusive deals on an extensive range of equipment from our retail outlets. Club members also have access to Boat Dives.
To the divers that wish to join us for the MDS Club Trip to Truk Lagoon. You might be unaware that places are limited for this trip so Rob is asking everyone that wishes to attend this trip that they need to place a deposit by the end of March. For if you don`t your place will not be guarantee. Remember places are limited and we only have 5 months to go. If you have any further queries please give the shop a call. MDS Boats continue to operate throughout the peak season. The boats are available by request for Diving groups and other related special occasions. Ultimate Diver continues its long standing tradition for providing superior diving experiences to MDS members on Members Day Trips.
Melbourne Diving Services, has long established itself as one of Melbourne`s most respected dive charter organizations. From humble beginnings with the single engine `Kestral` to the comfort provided by Victoria`s first purpose built dive vessel, `Melbourne Diver`.
Boats available for charter Diving, Sightseeing, Snorkelling, Survey work, Filming + Photography
Location description: Launched in 2000, `Ultimate Diver` has set the benchmark for dive charter vessels in Victoria, providing certainly one of the most comfortable dive platforms on the water. Power provided by its twin inboard engines ensures quick, trouble-free access to all dive sites. A spacious deck makes gearing up easy even when we`re busy! Finally, long winter dives are never a problem as with 240 volt power on board a hot drink is never far away.
Dives operate every weekend and Wednesdays year round as well as more regularly throughout the warmer months (December, January and February). The versatility of the two boats means there`s always something on the schedule to suit your diving needs, from first timers to technical.

Meet the Crew
Rob has been with MDS from it`s early beginnings. Managing the Heidelberg office is no easy task, but he manages to keep all of our members diving in style. You`ll invariably be speaking to Rob when you call the Heidelberg Office.
Brian, the Oracle of info. You can see a photo of him in the History section of our web site. Brian has been involved with diving from it`s early beginnings. He continues his strong support with MDS. Always happy to have a chat, your likely to find him at Portsea.
Johno, the smiling face of MDS is always happy to help. Johno, an excellent PADI Instructor, can help you pick out gear that meets your needs and suits your budget. He also organizes equipment servicing and repair. Drop in to see Johno at Heidelberg .
Leigh is an accomplished Dive Master and all round nice guy. A key person in organizing MDS social events and Trips. Next time you`re on the MDS boat have a chat to Leigh about upcoming events and local trips.
Competition
The theme of this underwater photographic competition is fun and the enjoyment of the underwater world through photography. Ten images will be chosen per month and posted on this website. The winner for the month will be announced at the start of next month and their image will be entered into the judging for the grand prize at the end of the year.
And the best part, the diving public will be the judges. You can participate, even if you don’t have an image to submit, because you can be part of the judging panel.
