Company description
At this moment you are considering investing in a Scuba diving career in a highly competitive industry. Your training is crucial to your success. We know this - we have been training dive instructors since 1981. Our Scuba Dive programs are designed and run to ensure your success in the dive industry.
As Australia`s most experienced and award winning Course Director, Tony Fontes has introduced over 1200 new dive instructors to a career in diving. Combine Tony`s experience with the quality of Oceania Dive Centre, the PADI 5-Star Career Development Centre situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef and you have an unbeatable combination.
Over the past 15 years the recreational dive industry has grown tremendously. As well, the industry has become more demanding. Today’s successful instructor must be capable of meeting these demands. This requires a continued commitment from the instructor, first to gain the best education possible and then to maintain the edge by growing with the industry through continuing education.
We have made the very some commitment to our instructor training programs. Our IPC and IDC offer you the highest quality educational experience possible. We are constantly working to improve our courses. We will give you the opportunity to be the best. And through our instructor continuing education courses we can offer you the means to maintain that edge and stay abreast of a progressing dive industry.
Our track record speaks for itself…
As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, your diving education is only just beginning. You now have the opportunity to continue your own education and pursue those special areas of diving that really interest you. Every course has its particular features and benefits that make it unique. Every course can be both challenging and enjoyable for both you and your students. Teaching these courses will allow you to polish your skills and knowledge in a variety of diving areas. These qualifications will enhance your job opportunities in the dive industry. The PADI Instructor Specialty ratings are also required to move up the instructor ladder to Master Scuba Diver Trainer and IDC Staff Instructor. And most importantly, teaching continuing education courses will keep the fun in diving.

THE TRAINING CENTRE
Situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, Airlie Beach is the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. This is ideal diver training ground with clear water (10 to 30 metres visibility) and warm water (20 to 28 degrees C). The town of Airlie Beach can support any lifestyle with a variety of shops, restaurants, bars, accommodation houses and plenty activities.
We are happy to help arrange accommodation to suit the budget for individuals or groups. Experience has shown that multi-share accommodation with fellow candidates is not only cost effective but enhances the learning environment.
The training venue is the award-winning Oceania Dive Centre, a PADI 5-star Career Development Centre (CDC), one of the select few in Australia. Oceania provides instructor candidates with every possible convenience. The classrooms are large, comfortable and air-conditioned. Training aids such as computers, video/TV, slide projectors, and whiteboards are available for candidate use. For your comfort, coffee and tea are provided throughout the program. And, of course, the original and quite famous IDC Survival Kit.
The pools are 2.5 to 3 metres deep and heated, ideal for meeting all diving requirements. Onsite, candidates will also find airfills, showers, change rooms and storage facilities.
The open water locations are chosen to ensure maximum time as well as provide realistic conditions for student training. Quality boats provide the transport to the dive sites.
The instructor training schedule can be hectic so we take care of all logistical considerations. Tank, weightbelt and air are provided at no cost. Equipment hire and repair is available on site should the need arise. Transportation is organised between the classroom, pool and open water. And most important – we organise the graduation dinner and the shout is on us!!
Oceania Dive is the complete dive career centre in that they offer a wide range of continuing education for instructors. This includes enriched air and technical diving courses as well as qualifications for training physically handicapped divers through the International Association of Handicapped Divers (IAHD).
