Company description Scuba diving in Fiji is a mind-blowing experience, whether you have never done it before or indeed if you have been diving since way back. At Reef Safari Fiji we can show you the reefs that Fiji has become famous for.
We have five dive centers at resorts around the Fiji Islands, each with their own unique underwater environments. We have fully trained instructors and dive masters, both expat and local, at each location who provide a wealth of knowledge and experience in an atmosphere that is both safe and fun.
Most visitors to the country arrive at Nadi International airport. The closest diving to Nadi is around the Mamanuca Islands (1). Sites can be accessed by day trips from Nadi or you could base yourself on one of the many resorts around the Mamanucas. Arcing north from the Mamanucas are a string of Islands known collectively as The Yasawas (2). This area is more remote and vast sections of reef in this area are uncharted. Between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu (the second largest island in the Fiji group) is a famous section of sea called the Bligh Water. Sites in this area are most easily accessed from Nananu-i-Ra (3), a small island that is only a fifteen minute journey from mainland Viti Levu. Beqa Lagoon (4) can be accessed from the Coral Coast, whilst Ovalau (5), Kadavu (6) and Taveuni (7) are further afield.
THE MAMANUCAS
This area has some famous dive sites such as Supermarket, Gotham City, Big W and Plantation Pinnacles. The reef in this area drops off to abyssal depths - this is the reason that Fiji`s best surf breaks such as Cloudbreak at Tavarua are also in this region. Diving in this area you would expect to encounter large drop offs and wall dives with lots of hard corals, crystal clear water, large schools of pelagic fish and reef sharks.
SOUTH SEA ISLAND
This picturesque island can be walked around in less than five minutes and is a mere twenty-minute hop from Denarau Marina in Nadi. Reef Safari`s base on South Sea Island is ideal for South Sea Cruises full and half day trip divers or as a first or last stop on an extended trip with Awesome Adventures Fiji around the Mamanucas or Yasawas... Introductory diving is a particular focus on this island with pretty reef formations and plentiful fish making it a first time diver`s dream.
VOMO ISLAND
Vomo is a five star island resort offering unique, luxurious facilities and receational activities. It is a picture-perfect paradise that is renowned for its world-class dining and luxury accomodation. The island`s surrounding fringeing reef plunges to 30m and deeper in places. The mysterious White Rock and other isolated pinnacles, rarely visited by other dive boats, are only a short journey away in our dive boat Magic Cat...
We conduct two-tank dive trips here on a daily basis and also offer dive course from introductory up to rescue diver and then dive master. We can run instructor courses here on request. The benefit being the additional coral and fish!
NANANU-I-RA
Reef Safari operate from Nananu Island Lodge eco-resort under the moniker Dive Nananu and, as with all of our dive centers, offer courses for all experience levels as well as multiple certified diving trips on a daily basis. The Lodge has recently refitted an ex-deep sea fishing boat and now runs fishing/diving trips on a charter basis. Using this vessel we can access dive sites in the Vatu-i-Ra passage such as Hi-8, E6, Black Magic Mountain and Instant Replay.
THE BLIGH WATER
There are some absolutely jaw-droppingly beautiful dive sites in this area and without question the best soft corals in Fiji, something the country proudly boasts. The nutrients that feed these corals are a result of the large tidal movement in the Bligh Water between the islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Dive sites such as Golden Dream, Breath Taker and Dream Maker are only a ten minute boat journey from Nananu-i-Ra. Colourful is really not a word that does these reefs justice.
