Company description MDA`` is the largest full service training and diving support business in the western pacific. Founded in 1982 by Pete and Linda Peterson, we have grown to a multi faceted operation with separate divisions for retail, wholesale, tour support operations, boat operations, video production, and a very active travel section.
Our clients (you) and the great MDA ``cast of characters`` make our business fun to be at every day!
Let us assist you in setting up your trip to Micronesia. There are a number of hotels that offer very low rates, and we can also offer you two different agencies that rent cars for as little as $25 daily, or a van for $60.00. Our 5-Star club offers tremendous savings on diving and much more.
We are extremely proud to be a 5-Star IDC Center awarded by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors.
Quite simply that we offer the finest quality dive programs available, whether you are just starting on your diving adventure, or are an experienced diver seeking more fulfillment in you diving career.
Since 1982, we have certified over 34,000 divers. Our commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable program for divers is our first priority. We offer an incredible amount of diving programs for both local residents and visitors.
WHY TAKE YOUR DIVE COURSE ON GUAM:
First, compared to most areas the course prices are very, very competitive and in most cases much lower. Second, and more importantly, the diving on Guam is very easy and you can begin your dive adventures without the necessity of heavy wetsuits and difficult entries and water conditions. Our waters are very warm and calm. Go here to see more on Guam`s diving.
Beginning Scuba (Open Water) courses are available in a wide variety of formats, from 3 day programs to our ``standard`` one and two week courses.
The price of our Open Water course is $159.00 for any of our regularly scheduled weekly courses. Prices for private, semi-private, and ``special schedules`` classes are higher and can certainly be arranged around your schedule, but please allow 3 days for the course.
We have an extremely wide range of beginning, advanced, specialty, and technical courses beginning with a ``Discover Scuba`` dive, through full Instructor Certification programs.
The reefs and wrecks around Guam are particularly well suited for Nitrox (enriched air diving). Most of our divesites fall within a very comfortable diving range of 30-120 feet, and are virtually current free. We offer a complete state of the art blending system with O2 fills up to 100%!
We dive ``AMERICAN STYLE``: Longer dives based upon your abilities, a wider choice of divesite`s, spacious boats totally designed for divers, a very wide variety of sites, and great prices all add up to what we do best...dive! We make every effort to give you as much ``Guam bottom time`` as possible.
What is our experience? We`ve been diving on Guam since 1974, have specific information on virtually every divesite on Guam, and our staff is totally committed to your diving enjoyment and safety. We also have special afternoon trips (you get to sleep in) that feature a wide diversity of divesite`s that are not frequently visited during the morning 2-tank dives. There are also many evening trips for night dives.
We have two 42` Newton custom dive boats (Sun Chaser and Sea Fantasy), and also our newest vessel, the 29` Reef Dreams. Our boats are equipped with full electronics, individual tank holders, pressure showers, and a host of other ``diver friendly`` facilities onboard. We can easily accommodate groups up to 42, and the boats are available for diving, snorkeling, BBQ trips at sunset, dolphin watching (about 90% chance of seeing them), parties, weddings, and whatever you`d like to do!
Location description: We are located in the middle of Guam on the western side. We also have two stores on the U.S. Naval Station.
We are avid divers and get to travel all over the regions that most divers consider world class. Please don`t compare Guam to Palau, Yap, and Truk Lagoon...but Guam diving is 80% better than most of the world!
Do you want variety? Walls, Drift Dives, plane & ship wrecks, and a wide choice of reefs. Among the most popular sites are the Blue Hole, Crevice, Coral Gardens, Haps Reef, Pete`s Reef, Barracuda Rock and the twin shipwrecks of the Tokai Maru and the SMS Cormoran.
We have over 60 sites around the island and Guam has over 200 species of coral and an abundance of marine life at most locations. We also have a very good variety of beach diving sites most with very easy entries and exits.
Water Visibility & Temperature: Guam waters maintain a temperature of 82-86 (28C) degrees year `round with excellent visibility at most locations. Apra Harbor divesites generally have visibility in the 30-60`(10-20m) range, and all ``outside`` reefs offer 100-150` (33m) and more. Above water we are terribly spoiled with temperatures consistently between 75-90 (24-29C) every day!
Ease of Diving: With a few exceptions, diving on Guam is VERY EASY. There are numerous walk-in reef dives, and a very wide choice of boat dive sites. There are virtually no swells 95% of the year, and most divesites are within an easy 10-20 minute ride by boat. Directly across the street is a beautiful reef perfect for diving and snorkeling.
Make a ``4 Wreck Dive trip`` in one day*: One of our most popular boat charters is to make a 2 tank boat dive on the Tokai/Cormoran (first dive), and then move to the Val Bomber for a 10 minute ``quickie`` dive, followed up by finishing the tank at the American Tanker. *This option is based upon the interest of all divers on the boat to visit the shipwrecks. Also consider chartering Reef Dreams for these trips.
When is the best time to come? Just about anytime. Our rainy season, if we have one, is generally from September to December. This means that we have combinations of rain and sun throughout the day. The windiest months are between January and early April as our tropical northeast trade winds are active. The calmest months are between April - August, but since virtually all of our diving is on leeward (west) side of Guam just about all of the sites are available all the time.
