Company description Established in 1992, Guam Tropical Dive Station has earned its title as one of the major dive centers on Guam. John and Paula Bent bought what used to be Guam Divers and renamed the store Guam Tropical Dive Station, better known as GTDS.
The two Australians are very involved with island happenings and it`s almost impossible to get Paula to stop adopting pets. Many of our employees go home with animals found in the parking lot.
John is known for his knowledge of decompression diving and his excavation of the Pilar, a Spanish Galleon.
In 2005, GTDS took on a business partner, Yasuhiro Maeda, from Tokyo, Japan. Mr. Maeda is married to Mrs. Masako Maeda with two excited children Sayaka & Shusuke, attending St. Johns School in Upper Tumon. Mr. Maeda is a great addition to the GTDS family, which leaves John & Paula traveling to Australia to see Grandson Remmington.
If you are not already a diver that`s okay! We have something for everyone - whether you want to become a diver, an instructor, go for a Discover Scuba Diving tour that does not require a diver`s certification, chill out on board the MV Scuba Roo, take the kids for a boat trip that offers it all, or just meet some really awesome people through our dive club - it`s all up to you. We run daily trips for diving and snorkeling. We have a spacious 40 passenger vessel and a cozy 14 passenger vessel, perfect for private parties. We offer boat charters in the late afternoons as well as night time charters, perfect for celebrating a special occasion.
Our PADI 5-Star IDC Facility provides the best dive instruction from beginner to instructor-level courses. We have a team of instructors who love what they do because they are doing what they love - diving! We offer all sorts of specialty courses from the basics of boat diving to technical diving courses, you name it. For an awesome dive experience, give us a shout. We will be very pleased to be able to accommodate your needs. We offer top-notch services at a fair price. Come see for yourself.
Our retail department follows suit with the rest of the GTDS team, customers come first. If you don`t see what you want in the store, we`ll order it for you - asap.
Something wrong with your gear? Leave it up to our repair department to fix it up as good as new.
You`re probably wondering why our Dive Club has an Australian ring to it, right? Well, the founders of Guam Tropical Dive Station, John and Paula Bent are originally from Australia and they are hard-core Aussie jingoists! Just ask them. However, don`t you think ``Down Under`` could mean ``underwater`` too? So, it was a fitting name. One of our members actually thought up this name (thanks, Mark!). Well, Down Under Divers (the members of our dive club) are entitled to a number of benefits:
•5 free boat dives per year
•Advanced Rental Requests (don`t wait in line anymore!)
•A 15% discount on retail merchandise (excluding PADI Products)
•A 10% discount on rental equipment
•Equipment registration for stolen or lost gear, get the word out there
•Free guided beach dives on weekends
•Our very enthusiastic and entertaining email updates
•Access to our buddy bank
•Regular club events/meetings
•Notices for beach clean-ups and barbecues
•Periodic slide shows and guest speakers
...and more to come!
Location description: We are located in the beautiful island of Guam. You are probably wondering where is Guam? in the Western Pacific, across the International Date Line at 13°28`` north latitude and 114°45`` east longitude, it is the largest of more than 2,000 islands scattered between Hawaii and the Philippines. We consist of only two season - wet and dry. So it is a perfect place for diving!
Guam Tropical Dive Station is located in Anigua. The oldest village in Guam. We also have a dive shop on Andersen Airforce Base, located in the Outdoor Rec. building.
Two boats are owned and operated by Guam Tropical Dive Station, MV Scuba Roo and Sea Explorer.

The Sea Explorer is a 14-passenger vessel perfect for small groups of divers and private charters. The Sea Explorer usually takes divers to dive sites ``off the beaten path``.
