Company description Come dive with us in the beautiful Marshall Islands, nicknamed the ``Pearl of the Pacific.`` Bako Divers, Ltd. is making the most complete dive adventure destination in the Pacific, Majuro Atoll, available for your diving exploration!
Here on Majuro Atoll, and on nearby Arno Atoll, we enjoy an unbelievable array of diving sites to fit any diver`s desires. And, with remarkable underwater visibility, commonly in excess of 120 feet, Bako Divers will make sure you see it all. With over 300 species of hard and soft coral, over 1200 species of tropical and pelagic fish, WWII plane wrecks and artifacts, and over a dozen unspoiled ship wrecks, we have quite a lot to see!
Inside the lagoon we are spoiled with static conditions and calm water most days of the year. The interior is lined with incredible reefs covered with tropical fish and frequented by schooling predators. Visibility can range from 60 to 120 feet. Sites in the lagoon can please all divers from Open Water to Advanced and well beyond. We have what you`re looking for. Many dives ``inside`` are conducted from permanent moorings that have been established to preserve the unrivaled hard and soft corals that thrive in Majuro. In fact, Bako Divers does not ``drop anchor`` anywhere.
Mild to wild drift dives are conducted at over 30 sites, 20 less than an hour ride from the dock, with some sites as close as 10 minutes. Masses of hard corals and tens of thousands of tropical reef and pelagic fishes can be seen on a single dive. Eagle rays, turtles, sharks, manta rays, large tuna, Napoleon wrasse, and schooling barracuda, rainbow runner, fusilier, and snapper are common to most sites as well.
BAKO DIVERS is an IANTD Technical Training Center, offering Open Water through Technical Diver training. Majuro has over a dozen developed, unspoiled wreck sites ranging from WWII fighters and torpedo planes to 200+ ton freighters in excess of 150 feet in length. We also conduct deep, technical reef dives with qualified divers who are interested in seeing everything this paradise has to offer, like the Multicolor Angel, Decorated dartfish, Helfrich`s dartfish, Ornate angelfish, Watanabe`s angelfish, Griffis angelfish, Gold Spotted angelfish, Burgess butterfly, Tinkers butterfly and the Marshall Islands hybrid Burgess/Tinkers butterfly fish. Of course, large Silvertip sharks, Gray Reef sharks, Black Margin reef sharks, and Dogtooth Tuna in excess of 80 lbs. abound in deep water.
As if that weren`t enough, prepare to be served by a staff that is working to make your diving vacation the best it can be. Dive sites are chosen daily based on the desires of our guests, not what`s convenient. We strive to conduct dives at the best sites available on a days given conditions. For instance, if you are excited by slow paced exploration, we will do our best to provide just that. As well, requests for specific sites are given top priority. We don`t decide where to take you without learning what you are interested in seeing. It may sound out of the ordinary, but it`s quite simple. Ask and you shall receive.
In addition, after the day is through, your gear can be left to dry on our deck, where it will be safeguarded and returned the following morning, ready to use. Rinse service and gear set-up are available with a simple request. Quality, personalized service is what has earned us repeat business time and time again. Some customers have returned each season to dive with us, while others couldn`t wait that long. In years past individuals have returned two and three times during a single year. The experience here is that good.
To sum it all up, Bako Divers is offering you the preeminent dive destination in the Pacific. Whether you enjoy glorious coral gardens teeming with colorful fish, photographic opportunities second to none, exciting drift dives, world class wreck diving, encounters with the magnificent creatures of the deep, or exploring the beautiful coral pinnacles inside our lagoon, it`s here waiting for you.
Location description: First and foremost we have the most favorable diving conditions around. Some of our top dive sites:
*Coral Pinnacles: 10-120 FSW Majuro Lagoon is full of coral pinnacles that rise from the sandy lagoon bottom to just below its surface. These hard coral gardens are amazing, colorful, and teeming with life. Like huge condominium complexes, these self-sustaining ecosystems are home to most every type of animal in the sea. Nearly 800 species of fish populate these areas along with crabs, lobster, anemone, urchin, sponges, clams, eels and sea stars. Dogtooth tuna and white-tip sharks are occasionally spotted, cruising the lagoon, from these dive sites. The pinnacles are always crowd pleasers, offering comfortable exploration at your own pace for the novice to advanced diver.
*Kalalen Pass: 30-130+ FSW ``The Pass``, as it is called locally, is a fantastic location for drift dives. Steep coral walls and great visibility are the name of the game here. See hundreds of species of fish and coral while drifting through a school of Jacks or watch a green sea turtle, eagle ray, or gray reef shark glide on the current in search for food. The pass offers thrilling sights for everyone! It is common to see three or four species of shark on a single dive, including the majestic Silvertip that has been encountered at lengths exceeding 9 ft. at this location. In addition, Multicolor Angels, Helfrich`s Dartfish, and the very rare Tinker`s Butterfly fish and Ornate Angels make this site home.
*Kalalen Island: 15-85 FSW Kalalen, adjacent to the ocean pass allowing shipping travel in and out of Majuro lagoon, is home to a fantastic coral reef that benefits from the bounty of rich tidal flow. Located in the lagoon, this beautiful reef is full of colorful fish and corals. Both hard and soft corals thrive here on the constantly exchanged water of the Pacific Ocean. Everything from angelfish to the Titanic triggerfish can be seen here, as well as octopi, eels, butterfly fish, sharks, and much more.
*Shark Chute: 65 - 130+ FSW This incredible sand chute lies on the reeftop near the corner of the reef wall that becomes ``the PASS`` where it spills out onto the vertical wall that plunges straight down to nearly 200 FSW. Utilizing a proprietary calling method, Bako Divers ``calls`` sharks from the depths below to come swirl before divers as they ride on the currents flowing past. Silvertip, Gray Reef, Black Margin, Blacktip, and Whitetip reef sharks are encountered at these ``shark calls`` with occasional Scalloped Hammerheads and Silky sharks. On average 6 - 10 are drawn to the site while on exceptional days as many as 50 have been dancing for mesmerized divers. Strict protocols are enforced to ensure the safety of both the divers and divemasters, as sharks are unpredictable creatures.
