Discover SCUBA Diving
A half day course designed to provide you with an introduction to the Underwater World. The course includes an overview of dive theory and one confined water session where basic scuba skills are learnt and practiced. The day is concluded with an open water dive in our sub-tropical waters.
Open Water Diver
The most popular diving course in the world will take you from being a non-diver to holding the PADI Open Water Certification. Upon successful completion of the course you will be able to dive worldwide and will have made the first step of your diving education... the best is yet to come!
SCUBA Tune Up - Refresher
How long has it been since your last dive? Feeling a little rusty or maybe a tad nervous about your next dive? If this is the case come by and get updated with new techniques, equipment and all that old stuff you learnt and have now forgotten or are a little rusty on.
Adventure Diver
As a certified diver you have probably wondered what is the next step to take, maybe wanted to try something a little more adventurous or just wanted to expand your SCUBA diving knowledge. This one day course, consisting of 3 speciality dives of your choice (these need not include the core deep and underwater navigation dives of the advanced diver certification) is ideal for those with only limited available time or those who feel they are not ready to complete an Advanced Open Water Course. Similar to the Advanced Open Water Course, no formal classroom sessions exist.
Advanced Open Water Diver
The sights one sees are limited as an Open Water or Adventure Diver. Have you ever wondered what you were missing or have been frustrated after being left behind because your certification and or experience was not high enough. This 2 day course enables certified divers to learn about diving in new conditions and to further skills learnt during their Open Water Certification. The course is an extension of your Open Water Training and can be conducted as early as the following day. Included in the course are 2 core dives (Deep diving and Underwater Navigation) and 3 electives. The course is a fun way to expand your diving education. No formal classroom sessions or exams are involved. If you are already a certified Adventure Diver the course will only take you 1 day to complete.
Rescue Diver
A 3 day course modelled to develop your rescue skills and make you a confident diver. The course covers self rescue and diver stress, locating and surfacing unconscious divers, in water artifcial respriration and victim removal from the water. A certification in First Aid and CPR is required with this course and can be obtained by completing a Medic First Aid Course.
Medic First Aid
Chances are, you will not ever need to use the skills presented in this course. However, should you need to assist or provide emergency attention, you will have the knowledge to respond quickly and with confidence. This certification and more advanced Medic training can be obtained throughout the country from ProAction Medical Ltd.
GO PRO Dive Master
This course is the first level to becoming a professional diver and is the minimum qualification needed worldwide to work as a dive guide. The course will teach you how to guide and supervise divers, how to assist instructors training students as well as fine tuning your diving skills to demonstration quality. In the classroom we will learn about the diving environment, physics, physiology and the equipment associated with recreational diving.
Location description: If you are already a qualified diver let us show you around Doubtless Bay and the Karikari Peninsula. Depending on your diving experience, skill, certification and wishes, your choice of dives is only limited by your imagination. Shore dives are conducted in the spectacular Matai Bay for the novice or anyone wanting an easy but beautiful dive. While the other end of the spectrum can be explored advanced diving at Bastard Rock, the Motoroa Islands and the famous Matai Bay Pinnacle, up there, rating as one of New Zealand`s top sites.
Rainbow Warrior Wreck Dive (2 diver minimum)
On the 10th of July 1985, while on its way to protest against nuclear testing in French Polynesia, the Greenpeace flagship the Rainbow Warrior was docked in Auckland harbour when French agents (disguised as Swiss Tourists) sprung the ship using limpet mines. The bombing killed a professional photographer and sank the Warrior. After refloating the ship for investigation purposes, the pride of the Greenpeace fleet was towed to the Cavalli Islands and resunk in 25 meters of water. The ageing wreck has now been transformed into an exquisit artificial reef abundant with many species of marine life and unique jewel anemones.
An early start will see us heading out through the scenic beauty of the Whangaroa Harbour. Our 30-40 minute boat journey (aboard the Rock Hopper), takes us on a breathtaking voyage in waters frequented by dolphin and blue penguins. Our first dive will be on the famed wreck of the Warrior, rated now as being among the top 10 wreck dives in the world. A second dive can be completed on the wreck or in the clear waters of the Cavalli Islands - the choice is yours.
We complete our day`s diving with a visit to a local drinking hole (and museum) which is nestled amongst the mangrove swamps of the upper Whangaroa Harbour. Here we will do our debreifing and exchange a yarn or two.
