Odyssey Diver Training Limited was born in 2002 out of a need in the Tauranga area for friendly, helpful dive training that focused on people rather than profit. We were more concerned with making sure that the dive training experience was about having a good time than with the ``get `em in - get `em wet - get `em out!`` attitude. We`re still standing by that policy now!
ODTL became known as Odyssey Divers when we made the direction shift to adventure diving - a need in this area. Training was a great way to introduce new divers to the water, but action keeps them there! Hence, we became the Underwater Adventure Specialists, and started looking for ways to provide divers with low-cost, high adventure dive trips.
Three years from inception, Odyssey Divers is still going strong and having fun. We have contracted local dive instructors and divemasters for many of our adventure training and trips, and expanded the list of adventures we can offer.
Make the most of your diver education with fantastic trips and dive charters to locations like Karewa Reef, Motiti Island, Penguin Shoals, Astrolabe Reef or Plate Island. Discover wreck diving with the famous local MV Taioma, sitting 27.5m below on the sandy bottom surrounding Motiti Island.
Take overnight dive trips with Odyssey to awesome dive locations like Mayor Island, White Island, Goat Island Marine Reserve, Matheson`s Bay, Poor Knights Islands, Hahei Reserve, Alderman Islands, and the Cavelli`s, where the famous Rainbow Warrior wreck waits for you to visit her.

*KAYAK DIVING
There is nothing more refreshing than escaping the noise and pollution of a diesel-powered engine and gently slipping away across the waves to dive quietly in a local bay, or on the reef of an island inhabited with an abundance of marine life. Try a Night Dive, when your torch brings out all the colours of the rainbow beneath the sea! If you haven`t tried kayak diving before, come with us and let us show you how easy it is to really appreciate and enjoy the serenity of the ocean.
*SOUND ECO and ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES
Odyssey Divers have commited to always use (and encourage) practices that are healthy for the environment, both above and below the water. From household recycling to underwater clean-ups, we`d like to think that we`re not the only divers who would like to see our oceans still dive-able in 50 years!
* ECO-FRIENDLY DIVE TRAINING
Our dive courses always include eco-friendly advice, and training in eco-friendly dive practices. Most importantly of course...
``Take nothing but photos - leave nothing but bubbles!`` Ask us about discounts when you join us in making an eco-friendly commitment by taking Peak Performance Bouyancy or Project AWARE courses with us.
Additionally, we`d like to invite our students and customers to donate to the Project AWARE by purchasing certification cards that show their support for our oceans and marine wildlife.
*Eco-friendly tourist attractions
1) 2-6 per group, No Experience Necessary.
Kayak out to Motuotau Island, and enjoy a peaceful snorkel around the rocks and reefs, before taking a picnic lunch with your group on the sandy shores.
Children as young as 8 may enjoy this experience. A wonderful way to spend an afternoon!
2) 2-4 per group, Certified Divers Only.
Environmentally friendly, peaceful, and fascinating describes the pleasure of taking a short kayak journey out to Motuotau Island, cutting through the crystal clear water and anchoring for a 35 minute dive around the rocks and reefs. Moki, seals, octopus, kina and an abundance ofother marine life await you beneath the sea. Try kayak diving today!
3) 2-6 per group, 2 day adventure, No experience necessary, Min. age 10 years.
Try diving in a controlled environment with the presence of a PADI professional dive instructor. Then, the following day, take a kayak trip out to experience the fun of scuba in the sea, surrounded by the myriad of marine life that abounds in the Bay of Plenty`s coastal waters!
