Company description

Fins ‘n’ Flukes offer scuba diving, PADI dive courses, whale watching (July to November), snorkeling and island trips in Ha’apai. We are conveniently located in the centre of Pangai on the main island of Lifuka , close to all the budget accommodation and only five minutes from the airport.
Beautiful white sandy beaches, great snorkeling spots, scenic lookouts and historic sites are all easily accessible from town. We provide tourist information (free of charge) and are happy to advise visitors on how they can get the most from their stay on Lifuka.

Diving in the warm waters of the Ha’apai islands is renowned for pristine hard corals, a wealth of tropical fish and normally excellent visibility. The very diverse nature of the reefs here adds another exciting dimension to the diving: dark tunnels, huge caves, winding swim throughs, reaching overhangs, sheer walls and massive sea pinnacles make each dive strikingly different from the last.

In keeping with island time, we make long, easy dives and avoid diving in poor conditions. With a maximum of four divers per guide our guests can be sure that everybody – whether beginner or experienced – will get the attention they need. We pay particular attention to the needs of new divers and students to make sure that your initial diving adventures are positive, relaxed and fun. We have a full range of rental equipment in excellent condition and also have underwater cameras for hire.

Humpback whales migrate to Tonga every year. They arrive in Ha’apai at the beginning of July and stay to late November. During this time the haunting sound of their singing can be heard in the water and if you strike it lucky, you may even have the surreal experience of watching one of these giants cruise past on a dive. But even if you are not a diver you dont have to miss out on the thrill of getting close to a Humpback as we offer dedicated whale watching trips for up to eight guests in the season.

Humpbacks are well known for their powerful aerial displays, extensive repertoire of interesting surface behaviour and inquisitive nature. A day out whale watching gives you the opportunity to observe these amazing animals in their natural environment and, if the circumstances present themselves, you can even slip in to the water and snorkel with them as Tonga is one of the few places in the world where this is still allowed.

If you desire to do a little further exploration and fancy some island hopping within the Northern Ha’apai group we also offer Island transfers on request. Our boat is equipped with first aid, emergency oxygen and all required safety equipment including VHF Radio, Life Jackets, 406 Mhz EPIRB and signal flares.

If you would like any further information please don’t hesitate to contact us. We can’t wait to show you around!
