Coventry British Sub Aqua Club's 50th birthday dive

THE Coventry British Sub Aqua Club [BSAC] Number 58 is 50 this year.
On Thursday 1st May 2008 Stoney Cove the leading inland dive site allowed our club exclusive use of their superb facilities to attempt a record of getting 50 divers to enter the water in a Mexican wave [one after the other].
No other venue inland could have coped.
Our club BSAC 58 started planning how to celebrate 50 years of diving in 2006, many ideas were suggested, some that would have been a serious issue to the local H&S officer [Sky Dive into the water!].
We settled on 4 great ideas all in keeping with the clubs ethos- Safe, Friendly, Fun and Family Diving.
We
printed our logo onto a Pillow case in 2007 and "Pete the Pillow Case"
as it became know, was invited on every dive trip [Egypt, West
Indies, Ireland, Cornwall, SCAPA Flow, Plymouth, Weymouth, Farn Islands to name but some].
We have produced commemorative Polo shirts.
We have arranged a 50 diver Mexican wave with Family "Pig" roast.
We have arranged a formal Dinner Dance on the 17th May 2008.
Our
club in the past few years has taken on a new lease of life with more
and more dive trips being organised at home and aboard, try dives
offered
to schools and Scout groups [complimentary], social events filling in
weekends not taken with diving and seeing our club members
rising well into the 70s in numbers with a target this year of 100 club members.
The success of our club was demonstrated on the 1st May when we had 50 club members diving at one time [a record in the UK we believe] followed by a Pig Roast that attracted over another 50 friends and family, Paul Davies [training Officer] and Stoney Cove organised one of the most successful events in the clubs history that will be talked about for months if not years to come.
Mission statement: To collect all world scuba diving related businesses on the Web.- Add new!
Vision statement: 5700+ of dive centres, scuba diving shops, diving schools, scuba centers collected.
