His friend, 48-year-old Robert Canada died doing what he loves. His wife Judy, who he had just married less than a year ago, is at the couple's Lake Worth home in inconsolable grief. Canada was one mile off shore Gulfstream Beach diving with friends for lobsters on the first day of the lobster mini-season, something he did every year, when a diving buddy noticed he was struggling to stay alive. • 31 Jul 2008: Lobster mini-season report from day one

Spiny lobster. Crawfish. Bugs. Whatever they are called, call them delicious with melted butter. However, unlike last year, no one could blame it on the conditions. Divers were blessed with flat calm seas, good visibility throughout the Treasure Coast and ideal weather. For many, the bugs just weren’t there. “We hoped to max out at our limit of 60 lobsters,” said diver Roy Aufort of Stuart who spent most of Wednesday diving with four friends in 12-40 feet of water along the offshore reef south of St. Lucie Inlet. “We ended up with 23, but after talking to a few others who were out, it sounded like we did better than most.” … Source
