National Geographic diver has died while filming the wreck of the HMHS Britannic.


37 y.o. Carl Spencer has died in Greece from decompression sickness, known as the bends. It is caused by surfacing to quickly from a dive.

Calrd Spencer was pronounced dead on Sunday at the Athens Navy Hospital after being transported by rescue helicopter from a wreckage site.

He was part of a 17-member crew exploring the Britannic - World War I British hospital ship (known as a sister ship of the Titanic). This ship hit a mine and sank off the Greek Aegean island in 1916 taking lives of thirty people.
