The biggest artificial reef is now open for exploration
Today is the first day the 522-foot ship called Vanderberg is open for diving. The organizers have a several boats to assist divers and keep people organized. They ask divers be patient, friendly and careful with others.
The ship sank around 10:20 a.m on Wednesday seven miles off Key West. The company called Reefmakers spent over $8 million to prepare the ship.
During the scuttling, the Vanderberg's two large satellite dishes shifted delaying the opening of the wreck which is going to be the biggest artificial reef. The dishes were secured by the contractors on Thursday and the ship now is awaiting first divers.
