Novice diver died during his checkout dive.
Robert Leon Ray Jr, 41-year-old man died during his checkout dive at Cultus Lake in Canada. He ran into unknown problem and failed to use his breathing regulator. The dive instructor tried to give a secondary breathing apparatus but Ray was already unconscious. Diver was taken out of water and CPR was initiated right away but it didn't help.
A Sunriver Fire ambulance crew arrived and tried to help Ray but it was unsuccessful.
The investigation is being carried out to find out what caused the death.
