Finland divers have found sunken S-2 Soviet submarine in the Baltic Sea

A group of Finland divers have found the WW2 wreck of the S-2 Soviet submarine in the Baltic Sea between Finland and Sweden. This submarine was last seen near a lighthouse on Market Island about 70 years ago.

According to lightkeeper's log an explosion was heard after the submarine headed north and dived into a Finnish minefield. Divers took photos to confirm that the submarine was destroyed by mine.

The Russian and Finnish authorities have been informed but the location of the wreck has not been revealed in order to protect this historic find from scuba looters.
