June 11, 1910: Birth of Jacques Cousteau
99 years ago in the place called Saint-André-de-Cubzac (the Gironde department of France), Jacques Cousteau opened his eyes and saw a beauty of this world.
He was a man of many talents: a scientist, author, researcher, naval officer, explorer, photographer, film maker, innovator and ecologist. This person has changed the world of scuba diving, developing the Aqua-Lung. Apart from that he made scuba diving popular around the world, raising people's consciousness to both the splendour and the plight of the oceans.
The world knows him by the beautiful films he made during his long life, exploring the seas and oceans on his famous ship Calypso.
Jacques Cousteau had a lot of awards and medals for his priceless innovations and researches.
He died in 1997.
