26 Jun 2009:
The 36-year-old diver from Taunton was rescued after being caught in a rip-tide.
He was snorkelling during a rip-tide in the water off the mouth of the River Otter which runs near the village. The rapid current draw him away from the beach so the rescue helicopter was sent to rescue the man. There was a Sidmouth rescue boat launched as well.
The diver was delivered to the local car park and treated by paramedics. He was in good condition so there was no need for hospital treatment.
